Sorry if this was covered in another thread and I missed it, but did anyone else see ESPN's coverage of AU leaving the team bus headed into Tiger stadium and Irons saying he was getting ready to 'go for 200'? I don't know whether to be more pissed at his arrogance for thinking h could come into Tiger stadium and do that or that fact the the we actually let him get there. One thing is for sure. We'd better work on defending that little toss play out of the bunch formation. I know we'll see it again before the year's out. I also think we need to work on actually disgusing the blitzes a little more. We got away with just sending them the last few weeks, but AU did an outstanding job of picking them up. Please note that this is merely an observation, not a criticism.
There was a good bit of poor tackling out there especially on his long run but that was by far the best offensive line we have faced this season and Irons is a pretty good back with some speed.
Good call by him, but I'm pretty sure that if you put a camera in front of a lot of these guys, they are going to make a lot of "predictions."
I hate talking up players on other teams, especially AU, but I love the way Irons runs. He should've been tackled at least 3 different times on his 74 yarder, but he had a couple of spins moves, kept his balance, and was gone. Joe Addai has a similiar style, combining both power and speed, but I thing Irons is a little faster hitting the hole than Joe.
ESPN sure played it up by highlighting on the Kodak moment or whatever. But I give Irons credit, he and his O line were very good.
Yes, it was their Kodak moment right before the kicker missed his fifth field goal. Irons (who ran like a champ) would probably have preferred to win the game and not get his 200 yards.
I wish we missed five extra points last night, because the refs would have unfairly let us try those again! Seriously, great game last night. As for Kenny, I watched him play a little when he was a freshman at South Carolina, and saw that he had amazing ability. For whatever reason, that old bastard Lou Holtz had it out for him and refused to give him any quality PT. I sure would like to interview Lou on live TV now and ask him what his opinion of Kenny Irons now. See you cats in Auburn next year. Again, great game. That's actually the best loss I've seen in a long time.
