When it is all said and done, an Gen 1 iPhone IMO is just as good as a 3G iPhone. The one real kick ass feature of the 3G iPhone is the GPS. It will show your location with a blinking blue dot on a map. You can watch it move as you are driving. This is a really excellent feature if you travel a lot. I almost took my 3G iPhone back. If it wouldn't have been for the GPS, I probably would have. I do travel a lot, so it will be benefit me greatly.
Apple has always been good about quickly remedying an unpopular issue. Perhaps I should wait for the inevitable 3G Model 2. The only reason that I can see Apple releasing a model with a battery inadequate for running all its features is that it expects new, low-power components to be available very soon. OLED screens and new nanotechnology chipsets will make better use of the existing battery, which is conveniently sized.
AT&T offering the 3g 8 gig for 150 bucks refurb and 200 new with a 2 yr contract or 2 yr re-sign if eligible for upgrade. unfortunately the battery life still sucks. sony xperia finally released in the US but not thru at&t. only 800 bucks. :insane:
Why is half the damn screen taken up by huge phucking useless buttons? What provokes a design team to come up with this? Are the guys at Apple the only ones who "get it"?
They've only gotten it for around half of their existence. Steve Jobs is fixing to go, unfortunately, and he will take Apple with him.
im sure the display was designed then the buttons added. not a big deal. true red may disagree just to delay his heartbreak.
Kids got the iTouch for Christmas. Dear old dad may not be far behind. Can't stand to listen to music with plugs in my ears. Like the fact that they have a "speaker".

no true iphone killer now with prices coming down. just lots of alternatives. the HTC touch pro is one. it has a cult following. but they are $600+. but that defeats the purpose. the idea of a killer is to be half the price of the original to be killed.
