    Why would someone be on crutches due to a bruise?

    That's unheard of.

    Severe contusions have a danger of blood clots developing. They may just want to immobilize the leg for a while.

    Not really. I have had a huge one. Extreme pain in my shin area when trying to walk. It felt like it had a heartbeat and a life of it's own.

    Must have gotten worse or something else happened because he wasn't on crutches during the Northwestern game.

    DJ Howard did well punting, had a 53 yarder with a -1 yard return and another punt that pinned them back at their 11 yard line.
