I can't believe it took you this long to post your insurance comment. How is that even remotely relevant to this conversation?

i thought it meant how it was funded. if these hospitals are "charity" then we might as well call the cops and roads and miltary "charity".

i thouht charity hospitals were funded by charitable donations, not forcibly taken tax dollas. i learn something ever day.

    I say.

and I DIDN'T say that doctors should be given special treatment. If you could think past your pecker you would realize that malpractice insurance is one of the biggest drivers of health care cost. If you reduce the amount of protection the Dr's need then cost comes down. Couple that with not having to run 10,000 test for a simple diagnosis and it comes down a bunch more.

Problem is the tort lawyers make a nice living, to the point that they get rich enough for you to hate them, by suing the crap out of doctors for the lawsuits you claim to dislike.

Well I can certainly think far past your pecker, Junior. Balance is the key here. Eliminate frivolous lawsuits for sure and jail people for bringing them. We can also reduce jury awards that far exceed reason. But doctors DO commit malpractice and don't need to be protected from the courts when they are found guilty.

One of the things The Health Care Law does is to begin paying doctors based on the results they achieve rather than on the number of visits and procedures that they order up. Glad you approve!

I'm not insinuating that doctors don't commit malpractice. Of course they do, and when they do they should be held accountable. What is driving up the cost is that they have to protect themselves from the wolves that are just looking for a paycheck. As for the test, I'll give you an example. When my shoulder was so bad I couldn't lift my arm over my head I finally went to get it checked out. Doc looks at it and sends me to a specialist. Specialist says "we need to do an x ray first". I was like huh? An x ray? Look here doc I'm no surgeon but I can tell you that what I have going on is cartalidge and ligaments and sh1t like that. You don't see those on an x ray. But we had to do it anyway, and they took all sorts of pictures of my shoulder from all angles. Didn't see a damn thing. That type of crap has got to go. He knew all along what the problem was but "just to be sure" we had to do some other stuff. It is crap.

If people actually understood what insurance is/does then we wouldn't be talking about pricing.

Have you been following this discussion? Noone is talking about pricing. We are talking about the constitutionality of the individual mandate.

Tort reform doesn't protect negligent doctors. The same juries that let Casey Anthony walk are out there deciding to make millionaires out of people who had a complication during an appendectomy.

    Correct!

This is another example of the unmentioned "1% evil rich" on the left. It's like those unmentioned evil corporations (GE) which Obama always seems to omit while blaming everyone else.

Tort reform does not exist in Obamacare so it really doesn't protect anyone. Its nice that liberals can agree in principal to reducing frivolous lawsuits without having to act on it.
