1. Thanks. At the speed its moving we already knew we were mostly in the clear by then. The worst weather I've seen so far was a windy squall that blew through about 20 minutes ago. Spoke to our mayor about the same time as that, and his words were,"non-event." Hope those in the Lake Charles area got out when they were told to, though. I sure would not have wanted to ride that thing out.
  2. Eye of that sucker is about 100 miles inland now and still a Cat 2. That's a badass storm.

  4. Just heard from a friend who lives in the Beaumont area. They never lost power or had any problems either. Bad storm but smallish area of impact.

  5. I heard last night that parts of Lake Charles could be covered with as much as 20;feet of water. That's higher than a 2 story house.

  6. When I got up this morning and looked east I could clearly see the edge of the storm with a perfect arc of clouds. It was very strange to be 120 miles west of the center and not have any wind or rain. I might have a 20 mph gust and 1/4 in of rain all night.
  7. The nhc said it was unsurvivable. They need to nix that word.
  8. I was disturbed to see/hear that, too. Trying to out Weather Channel the Weather Channel I guess.
