1. It's probably because it's a place that won't be affected by hurricanes.
  2. agreed. I love Weather Underground. Look up the weather at McMurdo Antarctica sometime.

I have been watching WU maps as well, the image i put up is the image that WBRZ has been running for that past 30-45 minutes.
  3. Grand Isle is better for me, worse for NOLA

    yippee ki yay

bet their equipment don't get phucked up over there
  4. Here's an historical look at why I don't see a left turn right before landfall. These are all the storms that have passed within 100 miles of Gustav's current position. Some were already heading west, and just continued to go west, but none were going NW, and then turned west.

Like I said, though...a wobble this far out makes a HUGE difference at the coast.

  5. I just got back from Houma, my folks are in Nashville. They sent me to their crib to get the guns and silver. I tried to get an elderly uncle of mine to come, but he rode out Betsy, and he says he'll be fine. He is on a high ridge, and should be safe from the surge.

Another uncle of mine and his wife had to stay behind because they care for 9 elderly people that could not or would not evacuate. They are in a lower lying area and need some prayers.

I got a really eerie feeling driving around Houma and seeing next to no cars. I also got the feeling like I may never see that place again.

Nootch, don't know what your plans are, but God bless.
