1. So we're opening up gifts, and inside of a gift bag, I see a t-shirt. I pull it out, and it's a 2007 Sugar Bowl shirt, with LSU and Notre Dame on it, of course. Then I notice a paper clip on the neck, and an envelope inside the shirt. You guessed it - 2 tickets to the game were inside!!! Section 305 I think, sort of in corner of the end zone, from the looks of it on the seating chart I just found.

This will be my very first bowl game, so forgive the next question if it's stupid - do they sell beer at the Sugar Bowl?

  2. BEER IN NEW ORLEANS???!!! NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I've been to tons of Saints games, and have done my share of beer drinking in the dome - I just didn't know if, because it's a college game, if they would follow the same policy that's in effect in Tiger Stadium.
  4. I could be completely wrong, but I cannot imagine anywhere in NOLA that a person 21 yrs or older can't get a beer. By the way, I looked deep inside all of my gifts boxes/bags for the same thing, but alas, I haven't been very good this year. Mrs. Claus said something about spending too much time on all those @&#^$%%^!! LSU forums! Congrats, and I'm green with envy!

  5. Even that's not always necessary. At least it wasn't 8 years ago.
  6. Beer is sold at most if not all non-college stadiums across the country. The problem with beer and college athletics is selling beer ON CAMPUS. The Saints had to get special permission to sell beer in Tiger Stadium last season.

So in short, yes...there will be beer!
  7. Not sure about the Sugar Bowl, because I've never been, but when the Final Four was in town a few years ago. No Beer or Alcohol was sold unless you were in a suite. Also, I went to the SEC Chanpionship game last year in the Georgia Dome, and I'm pretty sure they did not sell beer there either.

  8. I thought it was beer at NCAA events that wasn't allowed. At baseball games in Tulane's Turchin Stadium you can buy beer. Or should I say could when there was a Turchin on campus. But at the Baseball Regional Tournaments I have been to (no matter where they have been held) you can't buy beer because it is an NCAA sanctioned event. At regular games is when you can buy beer at Turchin, but when Regional Tournaments are held there, beer cannot be sold.
  9. I'm not sure what the rule is. Back when I was a student at Nicholls, beer was sold at their stadium. It's been quite a while now, so not sure if they still do or not. What are the odds that one of the 16 people who went to Tulane home games this year is a member of this forum? Did they seel beer for them?

Edit: This is the only thing I've found so far (from Jan. '05):
If I'm reading this right, the NCAA doe't have a rule in place. I don't think the Sugar Bowl can be considered a "Championship Event", so I still have no idea if they're gonna sell beer or not.
  10. You mean since they played at Zephyr? My husband made some of the series, but I didn't ask him if they sold beer for them there. It was the last season at the old Turchin in 05 that beer was sold at regular games but not at the Regionals held there. Which is why I am thinking it was some sort if rule against beer being sold at official NCAA events.

If that is the case, would a bowl game be a "private" event, or an official NCAA event? I am leaning towards privately held, but what do I know?
