Does anyone know why ESPN broke up the tandem of Ron Franklin and Mike Gottfried? I always thought they were the best announcers in college football and watching the LSU/Ariz St game without the combo seemed odd.
I don't know this for sure and it's total speculation but I think Gottfried was having some kind of problems last year and I really think it was with the bottle. During games last year he would slur words, make odd comments, continually mess up players names or descriptions. Ron Franklin is an exceptional TV play-by-play man. His command of the English language, knowledge of the game, including the rules along with his voice puts him at the top of the list in my book. And on top of all that he's just a "collegiate" guy, he's established himself so well that his name is synonymous with college football. Much like Keith Jackson or Lindsey Nelson were in their heyday.
I just about spit my coffee on the screen. How old are you? Musberger hasn't been any good at anything since he left his NFL gig on CBS. Franklin is by far the best we've got for college football.
I was thinking the same thing. Musberger is as phony as they come. The only time I've listened to him recently was the 2003 NC game. Since then I've hit the mute button if he's doing the play-by-play. Keith Jackson used to be my favorite until he became a USC mouthpiece.
MUSBURGER ALWAYS says, pass interfernce, so 15 yard penalty in college instead of spot foul in pros. I KNOW what the difference in college and pro is, why does he try to remind me EVERY time
