1. How does Florida get away with that punting strategy. With the delay of that kick i know they had to have people downfield that should have been a penalty.

You cant tell me with the coverage and number of people around the ball that just once as many times as they punted that they werent downfield.

I am not impressed with the officials in the SEC and this is not about how many penalties LSU has been getting but in all the games i have seen.

Holding calls are a joke because the lineman dont know what is holding and what isnt. Because what they do on one play is not and then the same thing on another play is.

A look at the last play of the USC ND game shows Reggie Bush clearly helping his QB into the endzone. That is a penalty my friends and it is a sham that it wasnt called.

Wonder why Petey didnt want replay?

Officiating has to become consistent and they must train these guys better!!!
  2. I was listening to post game radio last night on the way home from the game and the broadcasters seem to compare LSU to the Oakland Raiders.

In other words, They are the most penalized team therefore the refs go in watching them more closely because of the reputation.

  3. penalty cant be called even if they had replay. so thats a non-issue. actually it almost cost them not having it if they had no decided the ball flew out of bounds and put 7 seconds on the clock.

also that punting strategy is used by quite a few teams and is highly effective. the only time i saw it busted was the ASU game but they tried to run first.

cant argue with results. i knew after croom decided to give skyler all day practice in returning that skyler may never see another true punt again. maybe a few rollers in the corner.
  4. CFB does not have the same rules as the NFL on punts. What surprised me the most is that Skyler stayed 40-45 yards away on all those punts when they only kicks one regular one I believe. If he would have come up 10 yards and fielded a couple of those low line drives he would have at least come close to scoring and discouraged the Gaytors from doing it. I hope we at least put an up man in the formation next game to call for a fair catch after a 25-30 yard punt.
  5. I agree with you in theory, cajdav, but in Skyler's defense, its very hard to field a line drive, end-over-end punt. Its much easier to take it on a bounce, as he did a couple of times.

I realize that as a coach, you don't want to let one man beat you. And when you kick away from one man, its full acknowledgement that your entire special teams unit can't handle our punt returner. If only we could get our coaches to translate that into, "If they can't handle Skyler, what makes you think they can handle US?"
  6. That's why I would like to move Skyler up or have another guy lined up short, to make that catch easier.
  7. I want to know why Skyler wasn't used in the Offense. You can't let that talent sit on the sidelines and contribute nothing to the team. So UF doesn't kick to him, then use him on offense. Put him in as WR and run some quick slants or screens with him. THat was on of the few complaints I had about the offense. Penalties, turnovers, and not using Skyler.

I know Skyler has to be disappointed for not given the opportunity to contribute. That won't help his NFL potential.
  8. Word is that Skyler was nicked up around that ankle and they did not want to use him too much. Maybe too many cuts on the patterns and blocks would have taken there toll.
