1. LSU 11-2 2. Alabama 10-2 3. UGA 10-3 4. Auburn 9-3 5. Florida 9-3 6. South Carolina 7-5. I have lost track of the rest. The point is we have the best record in the SEC. Perhaps the best talent and have played and won quality games Arizona State ( on the road, after the worst hurricane in American history with a brand new coaching staff ), Alabama ( undefeated No 3 on the road, in their stadium ), Miami ( dynasty with the best defense in the country 40-3 with a back up quarterback who had very few actual snaps ). Had it not been for 11 weeks in a row after great emotional turmoil for the hurricane game we would have been SEC champions and dawgs from Georgia would have humped their last leg. Yet the idiot Lee Corso thinks Auburn is the best team in the SEC.
Stop using the hurricane as an excuse for the UGA LOSS.... It seems to be the trend of the week. They were much better than us on that day. Period, end of story.
At least in part having to play so many games in a row had to take its toll and have an effect on our performance. Not saying that Georgia wouldn't have won anyway, but they wouldn't have beat us as we were against Miami. The difference... having time to rest and regroup and having a different QB.
You can make the same comparison to the Georgia team in 2003. Georgia was a much more complete and healthy team when they played in Baton Rouge. 17-10 By the time Georgia got to the SEC CG, season ending injuries and depth on the defensive side impacted that game significantly. 34-13 The injuries to Daniels and Addai were certainly a factor this year. Both are top tier programs with plenty of talent, so on any given day...
Playing 11 games in 10 weeks factored into the Tigers lackluster performance in the SECCG. That, son, is a fact.
We sound like Barners if we try and claim to be the SEC's best team. We didn't have nearly the best record in the SEC in 2001...anyone complaining there? We had a fantastic year but we lost the SECCG.
