In recent years, we have had trouble filling TS. Sure we fill them against big name SEC opponents. But Michigan, OSU, ND, Texas, Oklahoma, etc fill their stadiums no matter who they play. What do you think the problem is? I think it is ticket prices. I know many people who only go to a few games a year, and when they do go its in the upper deck, because they cant afford tickets in the bowl. I think ticket prices should be lowered for this reason. We would sell more tickets, so its not like there would be a loss in money. It also seems like if it is raining or if it is "cold"(cold in LA?) not as many fans show up. I actually prefer games in the cold. I love going to Big Ten games up here when it is 30 degrees and snowing. And when it is snowing up here, Big Ten teams still fill the stadiums. LSU fans always talk about closing the upper deck, but until we start filling the stadium, it should not happen.
How are the ticket prices set for games in TS? A lot of stadiums/schools have gone to charging one price for the "lower" games, and a higher price for the prime time matchups. That is, for single game tickets.

Cal................64,318 Given there are only 9 college stadiums in the country that can hold over 90,000, given LSU was 6th in average attendance, and given your capacity fill was over 98% for the season... I don't see the problem. Are you saying because ND sells out their 80,000 seat stadium and LSU doesn't always sell out their 92,000 seat stadium, there's a problem? You need to go to a Miami Hurricane home game to see what a 60% fill looks like... now there's a problem!!
We averaged 92,212. Capacity is 92,400. That's almost 100% capacity. You really think that is a problem? Yep, we may be able to sell another 178 tickets. How do you propose we pay for these high coaches' salaries and maintain facilities with less money? $45 for SEC games and the VT game. $40 for the 2 weak non-conference games.
You have to ask yourself how many of those empty seats were purchased, but they didn't come to the game. On a seperate note, we can't fill the number of ticket requests submitted. Faculty and staff requests have doubled, as have the student request. Depending on how long a person has been a member of Tide Pride, some are getting their allotment cut in half this year. I had a UT season ticket holder tell me a few years ago that they had season tickets but it only covered half of the home games. Someone else had the other games.
First off, I am not sure that we have an attendence problem. IMO, we could do a better job with our non conference scheduling though.
Last year. But, I can't recall how much. It's around $40 now. There has been a increase in revenue, but a lot of that has come from the new addition and skybox revenue. This is just one of the areas I've been pointing to that will more than offset what people term as "paying too much for an HC." I've only missed one home game since the East Deck expansion and have attended every bowl game during that span. I never realized we had an attendance problem and rarely see empty seats. Do our fans leave early if the game isn't close?...sure! I believe there are two reasons our fans have emptied the stadium several times the last two seasons. 1) Katrina & Rita...Any free time I had was spent rebuilding my home or clearing trees from my yard. Getting a head start on traffic saved me several hours. 2) The parking situation and traffic plan are a nightmare. The MS River is a logistics problem as is moving 100,000+ people from the campus. When you add the fact that the police are clueless in directing traffic, you can understand why some people leave early. To a lesser degree...Louisiana has the highest church attendance in the nation. Some people actually get up on Sunday.
