If there was ever a demonstration of the importance of field position, we saw it last night. West Virginia got so many yards because they had nothing but long fields handed to them. With the exception of that one quick drive, the no-rush/max coverage defense forced them into slower drives ending up with them having far fewer points than their yardage earned them.

Wing's punts landed at the 3, 4, 5, 11, 8, and 9 yard lines. Hairston kicked off three into the end zone and only one outside the five.

At one point in the game there were 31 straight plays (ours and theirs) on the West Virginia end of the playing field.

Wing isn't getting enough credit by fans for what he did last night. It was amazing.

Now the only thing we need to work on is PATs. I'm hoping his injury heals quickly. We've already had IIRC 2 missed PATs this season.

Absolutely agree. 31 straight plays!! That's a great statistic I didn't realize. Good points Red.

    b_leblanc That's just my game...

Wing was unbelievable. I've never seen a punter on any level being that accurate on that many attemps.

Wing was the player of the game in my opinion.

Out kickoff game was much improved as well with the new kicker, whos name I can't remember.

Wing is off the charts good. He had a similar impact on the Oregon game. His ability with guys like Mathieu on coverage makes the LSU punt team a thing to be feared. TM7's catch inside the 5 was frickin great. That's how it's done.

And of course, the deep kickoffs were a very welcome change. Really helped keep the pressure off the defense.

It was Hairston, a freshman. Miles decided to pull off his redshirt, and it sure paid off.

Watched the game with a friend of mine and he commented on how good the WV punter was. I asked if he had noticed a guy named Brad Wing. He said Wing was good at placing his punts and was an alright punter but that WV punter is something else. I shook my head and went back to my
