There was an article in today's Lafayette paper about Evangel A.B...After Booty. Not much in the article except Evangel's take that they are a great institution, will continue to be and that football is just another extra curricular activity there. (Yeah, right!) What was interesting was the picture that accompanied the half page spread: Dennis Dunn and Nick Saban standing shoulder to shoulder apparently watching a practice session. Unfortunately, the photo was just a hook. Not a word about Saban or LSU. It made me read it, though.
I read it to see if they said anything about Cecilia whipping Evangel's butt in '95! Maybe not a whipping, but we won. I liked how they said all schools are "scared" to play them. I'd schedule them! Bring them down here to play St. Martin Parish Christian Academy. (we could put together a parish all star team). Could they stop Jamaican and DD in the backfield? Doubtful.
Who will be the new over-rated QB for Evangel? Never liked thier coach for personal reasons. But I went to the last few state championships to see them.
And don't forget. The Dogs went up to S'port to put the whuppin on them. Man, the look on their fans' faces after the game was priceless. Who were those country bumpkins?
Lets see if Evangel Still Screaming that in the papers after the De LaSalle Game. Also They are play Miami Norland this year (Dwayne Bowe High School) also they might not win District, I look for Ruston and Byrd to have strong teams this year. And if they make it back to the Championship game My West Monroe Rebels will take care of them.
ECA will not be playing Miami Norland this year. The deal fell thru. Also Byrd is not in Evangel's district. Byrd is the defending champions of Dist 2-5A (West Monroe,Ouachita,Airline,Captian Shreve). Here is ECA's 2003 Schedule: September 5-TBA September 12-Suwannee, Florida (There) September 20-Longview, TX-Independence Stadium September 27-Kansas City Rockhurst-Independence Stadium October 3-Hoover, Alabama-There October 10-Ruston-There* October 17-Natchitoches-Home* October 24-Concord, California DeLaSalle-There October 31-Huntington-There* November 7-Southwood-Home*
Yes, I was there! My cousin got thrown out of the game for screaming at Abram Booty and the Refs, also for being on the sidelines. What a game that was. 31-28. 1 Heart attack, 1 seizure, 1 helicopter on the field. Did you go to the game? How about that paper they gave us before the game about what we can't do? 1-no smoking, 2- no drinking, 3-no cussing...They are telling Cecilia fans to not do these things? Good luck.
