The women's final 4. Jazz Fest. Mardi Gras with nearly 3 times the number of tourists the NBA All-Star game generates. NFL playoff games. NCAA National Championships in football and Basketball. The Arena Bowl. 3 college bowl games this coming season. Several Cruise lines depart from the city every day. You know the tourist tyoe of things that nobody goes to South Bend for?

And, I'm not sure how relevant it is to point out the popularity of the KKK in Indiana and what that has to do with ND. ND is a private university, and gets students from every state. In fact, in 1924, ND students confronted and fought against KKK, helping to diminish the popularity of the KKK.
Wait a minute. So far, on this thread, I've heard people deny that NO is particulary dangerous, that the homicide rate only shot up after Katrina, and now that NO has always had one of the highest rates in the country. Geez, people, make up your mind. And, as I pointed out earlier, but perhaps my point was too subtle, is that while crime may have always been an issue with NO, it had been primarily contained into certain ghetto regions. But, Katrina hit those ghettos the hardest and you've seen that crime disperse into more touristy areas that had been relatively safer.
