I know there is more to the article...i read it. I have an espn membership. And I know he scouts for the pros...but he never says thats what he's doing in the article. Here is the entire paragraph leading to the rankings..

I dunno, i see where you are coming from that he works for Scouts Inc. But i still feel like he is talking about the best COLLEGE quarterbacks. I can see how it can be taken both ways though.

I agree on the Leak thing. They are CONSTANTLY glorifying that guy, and for what? What has he really done? Are they still stuck on the fact that he was the 'number one QB in the country' coming out of high school?

And, excuse me, Kyle Wright and #7? That guy would only be ahead of Welker on our depth chart.

    #4. Pat White?

I played against this guy in high school, and after watching him in college, I think it is a little unfair to make him #4.

I thinkthis ranking is a lot like the post Rose Bowl Vinve Young hype. Pat White will do fine in his offense, which hides his weakness - passing. I think we will have to wait until we see a defense shut down their running game and make him pass the ball until we can rank him that high.

As far as being a complete qb, he has a way to go before being #4. He is an incredible athlete and manager of the game, though.

I think Brandon Cox is a lot better than some of the guys ahead of him.

thats awesome man, what position did u play? you tackle him or anything?who else did u play with/against?

im currently going to school with courtney viney whos prob gonna be a 4star CB and some say he may be the best CB in california. my school hasa ton of prospects and its always fun to see the scouts coming to practices and stuff. i got to play against these two 7foot tall stanford twins this year in volleyball. it was cool to see them in the mcD's all american game after playing aginst them.

So do the Barners. They certainly believe he is better than Russell and Leak. Cox did a much better than I expected last year, but I think he has reached his peak, while Russell and Leak have more upside and real NFL potential.

Gee, Red ..... covering every AU fan with the same blanket again?

I know of few AU faithful that seriously believe Cox is a "better" QB than Leak or Russell. Clearly both of those QB's are more athletically gifted than Cox, and that goes for both feet and arms. However, Cox is seen as being in the same category as former UGA QB David Green .... that is to say, not especially athletic, but a good leader and manager of the game.

In other words, most feel he may not win you the big game but neither will he get you beat. Cox has matured considerably since his first start last season (the 5 INT debacle against Georgia Tech). Cox will get even better as he becomes more familiar with the intracacies of the Borges offense, but I don't believe he'll ever overcome the physical limitations relative to more gifted athletes.

Cox is about right, ranked at 3rd in the conference. But, I would definitely rank him ahead of Palko, Brennan, or Edwards.
