There's a lot of truth in that but the radical left is far more numerous and vocal than the far right and has a lot more well know adherents. I can't even name anybody in the KKK other than David Duke. And when is the last time you saw any klan leader or member of the Aryan Brotherhood on TV?

I saw a clip of some famous woman saying that all 70 million people who voted for Trump were racists and homophobes. And there are some issues that can never be compromised on. Like our 2nd amendment right to bear arms. And the way things are trending anything you say that goes againt their agenda can be label hate speech. Scotland passed a law that if you say anything that is hate speech even in your own home to your own family you can go to prison. Is that the direction we are headed?

I’ll agree. Trump built a campaign that focused on division in this country, used it for political gain and he was extremely polarizing at times. It absolutely sparked some controversy but I believe he gave folks a voice that had been shut up for far too long. He didn’t like the direction this country was (still is) heading and had the balls to speak up. I also believe he was never given a fair shake as the left flew off the deep end, the biased media picked and chose what they wanted to cover and did the entire country a disservice. Then Trump, being who he is, responded accordingly, as very unpolished politician who didn’t care about the feelings of others as he was all business. With any elected official, you take the good with the bad and that didn’t bother me personally. But I can see how it did others and respect that. I don’t defend everything he has said and/or done, trust me.

I echo a lot of what you said in this post. I don’t think we’re all that different at all. For starters, we’re Tigers and we’re girl dads. It takes a special man to raise daughters and it sounds like you have a head start on me so I’ll have to get some pointers down the road.

While my dad subscribed to Rush Limbaugh magazine, my mother was a bleeding heart (strange dynamic growing up, but great perspective). My wife voted democrat in college (she went to The University of Texas) but now is a registered republican. We’re much more moderate than most of our republican family, friends and neighbors based on our backgrounds and love the people in our life regardless of their political views.

I consider myself socially moderate and as a small business owner very fiscally conservative. Free market capitalism has been great to my family and I as well. I’ve worked my entire life for everything I have and can get easily disgusted at the slightest debate in favor of policies favoring a socialist culture. It’s a dog eat dog world out there, and I give back as much as possible.

All in all, I’m always open to discussions and I think both sides can get blurred by their emotions and especially their sources. I do believe in bipartisanship as it’s our responsibility, but my concerns for this country run much deeper than our President.

Or I do have evidence that he didn’t get that info elsewhere. Like he doesn’t know GDF from anywhere other than this board, and GDF has never said he was gay...

We’ve only shifted left as a nation and accomplished a lot of great things in doing so. Women’s rights, civil rights and gay rights. It’s 2020, if gay is their way, that’s ok.

But my fears are that with all the changes and all the shifting from conservative to liberal, we’re not closing the gap. Why is that? You give an inch and they want the mile. It’s very concerning.

What was once considered outrageous is now socially acceptable and what was once considered acceptable is now outrageous.

This may be an egregious example and it’s never happened to me but it has been discussed. A boy who identifies as a girl can show up and compete in athletics head to head against my daughter and that’s acceptable, but if I publicly voice a grievance over it, that’s outrageous.

Some systems to ensure people are not oppressed, in turn oppress those that oppose. So what really did you accomplish? I’m trying really hard to keep race out of it, but that’s obviously these easiest topic to discuss when it comes to this flawed philosophy. To hear AOC tell me I need racial insensitivity training because my skin is white, is in and of itself racist. By definition.

See I don’t believe they all do. Every gay person I know and socialize with (one who’s a republican Trump supporter) do not believe gays deserve special treatment or special rights. They just want to be like everyone else. These same gays I socialize with, will also tell you that there is a large portion of the gay community that doesn’t feel the same way. They want special treatment and there is a large group of supporters for gay rights who also want them to have special treatment. Why should anyone deserve a holiday based on their sexual orientation? One way or the other.

Is it because they celebrate their social acceptance in the same way we celebrate our independence on the 4th of July?

If so, where and when do you draw the line?
