Early thoughts on Mainieri?

I'm not a big baseball fan, but I want to see LSU return to prominence in baseball. So what are your early thoughts on Mainieri?

 

Too early? He's closing in on 700 Division I wins.

 

For LSU, Yes. But, I think he's shown he can coach.

 

He has the pedigree, no doubt.

I didn't care for the way he threw his players under the buss on the base running error at Tenn.

 

I read on a college baseball board that he has a reputation for doing that.
Can anyone confirm or deny that?

i didnt either. that is something that really irritates me.

nope, i cant. but i really do hope it is not true and that we dont see it continue.

 

I think he cuts players down too often. For example on the coach's show he said Gaudet was a terrible fielder. I have also heard him call Nick Pontiff a poor fielder. I don't think a coach should say things like that for public consumption.
