1. absolutely. I generally drop down to 6-10 decoys in mid to late Jan. I have started using a jerk string to get motion in the spread, seems to help some.
  2. A friend of mine and I finally got on a few ducks this Sat. 2 Hollywoods, 2 Gads, and 1 hen redhead.

  3. Well, we closed out the season yesterday. Hunted Fri, Sat, and Sun only to bag 2 birds. Considering the drought and extremely mild winter it was a pretty good season overall.

    Final Tally:

    Blue Wing Teal: 18
    Gadwall: 13
    Green Wing Teal: 12
    Shoveler: 7
    Pintail: 5
    Wigeon: 5
    Mottled: 2
    Redhead: 1
    Mallard: 1
    Cinnamon Teal: 1

    Total: 65
  4. A good season indeed!

I'm feeling like an idiot. What is a Shoveler?

  5. The most coveted duck in this flyway...........

    Spoonies!!!
  6. duh! Just never heard that colloquialism. Thanks!

  7. no prob. its actually part of their true name: Northern Shovelers
  8. Post season withdrawals are killing me. Last Sat I got up at 330am and started putting on camo before I actaully woke up and realized I couldn't go hunt. 4 times this week I dreamt about duck hunting. I'm ate up!
  9. I need to go skeet shooting, dog training is keeping me pretty busy. Just built a force fetch table for myself.

  10. I shot in a sporting clay tournament Sat. It was put on by the LSU Houston Alumni Association. Really fun event, and I got to meet Terrance Tolliver and Brandon Lafell. I picked up a LSU mini helmet with Stevan Ridley's signature on it in a silent auction, which I immediately asked Tolliver and Lafell to sign....they obliged and I was one very happy camper!
