Perhaps someone can clarify this for me. My girlfriend just called and said that she had heard that armed gangs are doing some destruction in Baton Rouge. While it wouldn't surprise me i just think a mode of panic has set in. Hoepfully she is just talking about what was posted above. If anyone else has heard anything about this it would be helpful to calm her down and let me know if i should be delivering pizzas tonight.
It's awfully hard to figure out what's real and what's not. There are just so many people wondering around looking for a place to stay. A small group of people were stopped and questioned not too long ago in front of the DOTD building. They claim to be looking for shelter.
if these *******s don't want our help, do away with them... simple as that... b/c they are taking away attention AND help from the people who DO need help and ARE willing to cooperate
there are no armed gangs. Everything is pretty calm now. There was some stuff that happened downtown but that is no longer the case.
I know, I was about to say that, because the news reports don't seem real chaotic right now... It looks like a normal shelter to me
I received this email earlier from a co-worker: This information came to me yesterday. This is true information, as I have checked with somebody's brother who not only lives on Foreman Drive by Lafayette High but is also a Federal Agent. I hate to turn this into a racial thing BUT, I just recieved a call from my mom telling me that 6 houses on Foreman Dr. were robbed last night, and people are getting robbed at Wal-Mart on Ambassador Caffery. My sister, (who works at Lafayette Shooters) said that a crowd of young black guys came into the store tonight bragging about being from N.O, and wanting to look at guns. If it NEVER crossed your mind that by us extending our hospitality, these people would bring on this type of threat please let this serve as an awareness. Please make sure that you are aware of your surroundings at all times. Keep all your doors and windows locked to both your house and cars at all times. He has said that along with the many victims, there are many whom are very desperate along with those who are just "from the wrong side of the track" He has said that things are getting very dangerous both here and in New Orleans and the surrounding areas and it WILL get worse before it gets better. So please always be as alert as possible
I just drove through there to pick someone up and drop them off at their car, and everything seems under control. There is a huge amount of police there and they seem to be walking up to anyone that is walking around downtown and checking them for weapons.
this is not as bad as people are making it out to be... It is panic, it is hysteria, but it is not The Lord of the Flies... It is a SMALL SMALLLLLLL minority, and they will eventually get their asses handed to them
I am in Lafayette and the people in the Cajundome are already acting up. At least two cars stolen, not sure if they were carjacked. However, it is known that there is a criminal element in what has been evacuated there. Delivery of supplies had to be stopped b/c there was not orderly way to distribute it. I've called our congressman, Boustany, and told his office that he needs to help get as many troops in the state as he can to avert something very bad happening to innocent people. I fully realize that during times like these "stories" can develop from relatively benign situations, however, conditions are ripe for many bad things to occur. Is 2005 over yet ?
