We need to buck up.... I don't think he should be given 7 to 10 days to make a decision, for many reasons. First of all, he's talked to 1 quarter of the NFL already, he should know by now what he wants and needs to go to an NFL team. He shouldn't get anymore money or this yearly shakedown of LSU will never end. You either go or you don't and it doesn't take 2 weeks to know this. These people who are whining for him to stay should stop and think not about Nick and the wins but about foolish he is making LSU and your university look. This is a yearly shakedown job and LSU finally needs to call his bluff and he either stays or goes. This guy is not Vince Lombardi folks. He got hammered by Georgia, should have lost to Oregon St., Troy......was pummedled twice by Spurrier, lost to UAB etc etc. I remember the NC....I was there and I appreciate all that he has done for the university. But does everybody like the annual event of him having "preliminary talks" with X team? Or how much he loves LSU and Baton Rouge? He either needs to go and go now or stay and I would demand he stop the yearly crap with the the NFL. Chicago wasn't the "right situation." Neither was Jacksonville, or NY, or Indie or now maybe Miami...what is his right situation? Or maybe he already has it and wants everyone to bow to him every Christmas? Either way, I've been around LSU since I was born in 1971. I remember the losing and the coaching searches and I remember the Sugar Bowl last year so don't bring that crap up. But the yearly talking to NFL teams hurts our recruiting no matter what anyone says and there's plenty of coaches out there right now that we couldn't 5 years ago that we can now get. It's not worth it. If he wants to go to the NFL, he needs to go. If not, coach football and don't get beat by Georgia by 30.
Nick Saban is 22-3 in his last 25 games at LSU. Why didn't you bring up the beating in the Georgia Dome last year when LSU put it on the Dawgs to win the SECCG, selective memory? Was that a close game? shoe fly
I have a fine memory and I remember the losses and the wins..........before and with Nick. But to sit here as a grown man and feel the need to beg another grown man to stay as coach is just plain stupid. I know what his record is Craw. You like this talk every year? Go to these recruiting boards and see what the players are saying and see if it doesn't hurt recruiting.......it does. It's not good for the program for him to hold the school hostage every year for a month..........how can that be a positive? If you knew what your ideal situation was, like Miami for instance, what is the big deal about accepting the job and moving on? We don't have to beg anyone.........
Look at that, another moron out of the woodwork that does not understand the impact of having a coach like Saban. :dis: He not only benefits our little worlds that revolve around LSU football but he sets a precedent around LSU athletically and academically that everyone is trying to mirror. People look at us as a top program and someone that they want to be like, and started in Dec. of 99 when the man was hired. Right now LSUs options A, B, and C should be to do what ever it takes to keep him in Baton Rouge. Anyway Happy Holidays to everyone.
And the infidels and agitators have arrived. I'll echo a previous sentiment by Jean Laffite. GO....TO...HELL...
My Brother, I've been around LSU Football since I was born as well (1970), and I'm telling you - it will be a sad day for all LSU fans if he leaves. Saban hasn't "shaken down" LSU every year. He's earned everything he's gotten. Has the team lost games it should of won? Yes. But this is football - the other team isn't going to lay down for you because you're LSU and you step on the field. Every program struggles from time to time. Nick Saban recruits like nobody's business, and is a master of getting teams prepared to play. For all the adversity our team faced this year, we lost two games. Two. That feat is simply amazing, and I think you should reflect on what it was like before he came. Let him stay a few more years with his recruits, and we will really savage the SEC and the NCAA.. DON'T GO, NICK!
I'm a grown man, an LSU graduate, a prior-service Marine, and most of all, a huge :lsug: fan, and guess what? I'm begging - DON'T LEAVE, NICK! If you knew what was good for the football program, you'd be begging too.
I agree with LSU Craigs first paragraph only. This is getting old and does make the university look bad and IT WILL hurt recruiting if Nick decides to leave. Recruits will think about this more and more in the upcoming years when they see this coming every year. I think 2 weeks is too long also, the university needs to call this. If he wants to go to the NFL I want him to go like I would want anyone on this board to persue their dreams. When he does get to where he's going I will root for him like its LSU except if he goes to the Raiders then it aint going to happen, but I don't think he will go there because you know how Al Davis is. Folks their are more coaches out there that can get the job done, Nick aint the only coach in America who can get this football team to play like last year! Nick aint the only coach in America who can take us where we need to go, you guys act like he is the only one... I hope he stays but we will all live if he doesn't.
I'll say it once again, DON'T GO NICK. For anyone to say he should just leave and be done with it is a FOOL. Get a grip dude!!! PLEASE STAY COACH!!!!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
