I read an article that pointed out how much trouble our defense was having with their offense, and it wasn't because they were running the offense so well, it was because they didn't huddle & we didn't have time to sub players for the correct match-ups. This left our defense confused a lot & put McCray into some bad positions. McCray is a fine safety, he just isn't a CB. He does not need to turn into a LB. Our DB's were okay, but we need to find a way to adjust for when teams run a no huddle offense.
Exactly. He was recruited as a linebacker so I dont get it. They had a person that was fast enought to play this new position that they have CREATED for McCray....in Derrick Odom...but he was kicked off the team for a Perriloux related altercation and a few altercations of his own. mcCray gets a "D" only because he is out of his natural position, as a whole they get a "B" but you have some individual "A's" in there!!! :crystal::tigereye::crystal::tigereye::crystal:
Watch out for Ryan Baker. I kept my eyes on him through high school on Rivals. He is a true freshman but he is an absolute monster on the field. He has been on almost every special teams tackle this year!!!

I watched the highlights again and just like last year, it seemed that every long pass play by Auburn was the result of two things: 1 (or maybe 2, depending on how you look at it): DMac was out of position or flat-out beat. 2: No pressure on the QB in those situations. Like in certain situations last year, it seemed we were hesitant to bring the house against an unproven QB. Almost every long play he made was the result of either having time in the pocket or his extention of the play by rolling out. Our front four did a good job of getting push, but the Auburn line held together pretty well and didn't let much get past them. We need to get more aggressive with the blitz. Rushing four or five once a series doesn't really cut it, IMO. So, I grade the DBs a B, but our overall pass defense a shaky C-. I liked it better when we blitzed every other down...especially third and long...and put the heat (and the WOOD) on the QB. That might be the only thing I miss from Saban's tenure. His defensive schemes were FIERCE.
