I'm not exactly college baseball savy. Even with how good the Tigers have been over the last decade plus I've still never gotten to really understand how the seeding and all that goes for the CWS and the NCAA tourney. My question is, what system do they use for determining who gets the top 8 seeds. Also, if a top 8 loses, does the team that beat them get the super? I'm sorry if this has been discussed but baseball just confuses me and I'm tired of being out in the dark here. Is there a BCS type system or is it more of a basketball system with RPI, SOS and all that factored in? Thanks in advance Tigahs. By the way, Hell of a job LSU! See ya in omaha
Baseball has a selection committee just like basketball. As far as determining seeds, I don't know how they weigh the different rankings b/c some of the top seeds will leave you scratching your head unlike basketball where it is usually pretty easy to tell the top tier teams. Like last year, if a top 8 loses, then the Super will go to the host of the matched regional. That is why LSU didn't go to Rice since Texas A&M won Rice's regional. The Aggies had to come here because LSU was the higher seed.
#2 seed in the SEC Tourney is fine by me! I predict- Win against State, Win against Tenn. Win against USC... Final game vs. the Gators- WIN!
Baseball's fun like that though. You can not play up to par all the regular season and end up in Omaha. Have faith!
You are entitled to your opinion, but, aside from just being pessimistic, why are you so sure? As many as 9 SEC teams may get into the regionals. LSU has won 7 series in a row in the conference. The point is that we have been playing post season quality competition...and winning. Dirks and Smith are consistent winners and Mestepay is getting better every week. Jackson, Gill, Sprowl, Patterson, Stavinoah, C. Harris, Hebert and Liuzza are all hitting. We will likely host a regional as the #1 seed. I really think our shot at playing in a Super are better than even. With Dirks and Smith, 2 wins there is more likely than not. Who scares you. Tulane? They are the #1 or 2 team right now, but in late May and June, the Tigers have historically been on top of their game. Sorry dude, but I'm already making plans to watch my team in the CWS.
