There would have been no "game" without the BCS. USC would have been declared universal champs. USC was left out of the "game" because Notre Dame lost to Syracuse, among other things. I'm right there with you, but you are making arguments against a system which HAS BENEFITED US IN THE PAST!!! in favor of another system that will never happen. Again, 8 of the teams on the schedule sucked this year. So bad in fact that it will most likely keep us out of the MNC no matter what happens.
Texas would spank OSU if the game happened right now by 2 touchdowns. UT went in knowing that they had to win that game or they would be out of SEC contention very early in the season. Clausen was motivated to play at his old stadium, and our conditioning was fubarrred. Agreed.
I moved here in July so my wife could go to Pharmacy school (the ONLY reason to move here, hehe)so we're still learning what there is to do around here. We have heard of the Mohawk from a few people though so I would assume it is still there. Do you remember where it is?
Cowheard is a moron. I might be an LSU fan, but he is doing nothing more than trying to rile people up by saying LSU has the toughest schedule in the country. Even as an LSU fan, I know our schedule has been down this year in comparison to Ohio State. The argument he SHOULD have used is that Ohio State lost TWICE to LSU's once. Cowheard lost me when he started taking a really stupid blind stance on the Saints issue.
Yeah it benefitted us and i know it. I guess i'm more of an idealist, even if the results of 2003 would have been different. We wouldnt be even talking about this if it was done right 100 years ago. I get weird looks when i say i like pro football more than college, but when i tell them that i have an undisputed champion every year decided on the field, there really is no argument. Remember when there was a company that posted that HUGE ad in the Advocate wanting to pay USC and LSU to play for a title?? What company was that?
These responseswere the same we heard in '03. People would bring up Ole Miss' missed FG, but they always seem to forget that LSU also missed a FG in that game too. Also, if Auburn really was the best team in the west, those would have been touchdown drives instead of FG's.
People keepbashing D-1 college football for being the only major sport in america. But think about it like this, its also the only sport in America that has 10 stadiums holding over 90,000 sold out every weekend. They must be doing soething right.
