My seven-year-old daughter just started taking guitar lessons. I never learned to play any musical instruments, but she's been drawn to them since she was a toddler. It's cute watching her run around the house, picking her hot pink guitar, then taking out her "song-writing" spiral to put down some new lyrics. Even cuter was when she asked me if there are any female songwriters.

The list of great female guitarists and songwriters is LONG. My current fav...Kaki King. She is excellent. The best female delta blues player is Rory Block...a female Robert Johnson. Of course you have the popular Bonnie Rait, great country/blues slide player. Nancy Wilson, premier female rock player IMHO, super technical. Susan Tedeschi & Ani Difranco, look em up...they ROCK! Old Favs Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell. Then you have a female shredding tapping quenn, Jennifer Batten. Man, I could go on and on. There are plenty and even after 30 years I wish I could play as good as all of them. Yup, Roy is an awesome picker too. Love him! I just noticed the guitar Roy is playing there. VERY unusual. Looks like some kind of dobro tenor resonator and with 12 strings? Thats a unique instrument I havent seen before.
