Conservative vs. Predictable?

I think the major problem is not that LSU's offense is conservative it's predictable. There is a major difference. If the definition of conservative is running the ball alot then WVU's offense is conservative. WVU runs the ball alot but is not predictable, therefore being conservative and running the ball a larger percentage of the time is effective. However LSU's offense is predictable and conservative which leads to whole lot of frustration in Tiger nation. This offense lacks any imagination and rarely has the defense confused on what they are trying to do. Hence the reason the offense has looked very effective against the teams that LSU can just physically and athletically dominate ie Miss St. and Ole Miss. LSU could give these teams the play book the week before and tell them exactly what play is coming and LSU would still dominate the game based on superior talent level.

Did you miss the wide-open TD bomb to Bennie? Arkansas did.

LSU is averaging 9.6 wins a season since Jimbo arrived six years ago. I'll take that "lack of imagination" any day. Imagination doesn't win games--scoring points does.

Did you miss the entire season? My wife can usually tell what they are going to do by looking at the formation and down and distance and she doesn't know jack about football. LSU's offense with Jimbo/Saban and Jimbo/Miles has been very very predicatable, anyone not seeing that needs to spend less time drinking and more time watching. The good thing is as predictable as it has been it has also been effective even if very ugly.

    Who cares?

LSU is winning, if that bothers you, I'm very sorry for you. You talk like Curley Hallman is coaching.

Again that wasn't confusion it was underestimating Bennie's speed by the CB or FS. Again LSU just had the superior athlete in that case and did not exploit that advantage in the game in any fashion yesterday. I am excited about winning but you have to be concerned about what transpired yesterday when we play a team that has the same talent level and athletic ability.

I understand. But teams try to not go more than 5 or 6 games without an open date. LSU has gone 9 straight games without abreak and were due for a flat game. And Arkansas came ready to play while LSU was likely looking ahead to the SECCG. Still, they prevailed, like champions do.

    "LSU won, who cares"

That is NOT the attitude champions are supposed to have....

Its like saying "we made numerous mistakes, played flat and inconsistent, but hey we won the game! all is well"

If you really think LSU is playing great football, then you really should take the blinders off....

I agree that LSU could sorely use a week off but sadly LSU will not get one until after the SEC championship game. Hopefully they can hold up physically and mentally for one more game. I really think playing all these close games when they had a chance to nail the game down early could haunt this team next week. They have to be mentally drained after this season. In '03 and (even '01) going into the championship game LSU was waxing teams.

Even Ole Miss in 2003? 17-14 was it?
