I am sure some people will get angry at this post but I will post anyway. Which basketball coach could we realistically hire next season, IF Brady is gone. I will start by saying Mark Phew. He would surely leave the Zags to come to a National Powerhouse in all sports. Great arena, better recruiting, greater facilities. Why would he not come if offered.
The way the season is going I don't believe Brady will be gone unless we do not make the NCAA tournament which I think we will. I don't see Brady being fired for maybe 2 or more years if no progress has been made. If he can get Bass to stay and have Tasmin Mitchell on the floor i think you will be looking at a very good lsu basketball team.
Mark Few will never come to LSU. Why would he? LSU's basketball facilities probably are no better than Gonzaga's. He can get national respect by playing a weak conference schedule littered with a couple OOC powers. They have a great program at Gonzaga and there's no real way he would come unless LSU would offer him way over market value for his new contract.
i agree with MikeD on this one. no prayer at Few. best thing to do is to get a top asst. or give it to butch. here's a good article on upcoming likely coaching changes and candidates to replace them. http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/8176412 note: brady not mentioned. i'm now sold on lavin. he's gone away from the slick riley hair style
You guys have to be kidding me on Mark not coming. He would love this. Their gym might hold a max of 8,000 fans(prolly less). He is the kind of coach that likes challenges. He will be challenged to recruit in the south as well as rebuilding our program.
I would love him to come, it's just not going to happen... http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/7348529 For years, Roth has received phone calls from coach-seeking schools hoping to speak with Few, 41. Roth always grants permission, but he also offers a word of warning: "It won't be a long conversation." That's what Roth tells almost every school that calls for Few, because Few's affection for Gonzaga has proved to be deeper than that of the Zags' previous coach, Dan Monson. After two seasons as coach, Monson -- a native of Spokane -- left Gonzaga for Minnesota in 1999. Gonzaga promoted Few, and in five seasons he has led the Zags to a 133-32 record (.806 winning percentage). Schools from all over the country have called about Gonzaga's bright young coach, and lickety-split Few has told all of them no thanks.
If you read this it states that Roth has gotten calls from coach-seeking schools......It did not mention one. It mentioned North Carolina but then said they never called........Meaning no big colleges has wanted to speak. If they did he would have said which college asked to speak. I still say he will come if given a chance.
I love the tigers but whoever said LSU is a major school when it comes to B-Ball? Our facilities are horrendous and the SEC is not a premier conference in B-Ball.
Matt Daughtery?? the old UNC coach... did he sign on somewhere?? I think he could do great... All the kids at UNC now were recruited by him
