Question. If he does these things, will you shut the fugg up? Miles has not failed at any of these achievements, yet. We are still in contention for all three and are damned likley to win the west. What the hell else do you expect from a team? Miles hasn't has the time to fail or succeed reaching any goals yet. And we haven't had time to assess a single season past the inescapable fact that we are ranked in the top 5 and have good prospects for the rest of the year. But you have the future all figured out, of course. Even though you can't know a damn thing about it. You are just being inflammatory because you like it. Of course, very board needs a ranting fool for comic effect. I hope you are taking proper pride at this distinction.
Damned skippy! I'll shut the fugg up ... WHEN LES WINS AN SEC TITLE & DOESN'T GET HIS ASS HANDED TO HIM IN A BOWL GAME!!! I expect neither of the above at this point due to our poor offense. This year, I wanted a Rose Bowl berth and a 40 point offense with the same great dee that stomps mudholes in folks. HAVE A DOZEN KRISPY KREME DONUTS ... while you watch replays of the Tennessee game It's a mixed bag, red. I do enjoy a good internet tussle, I ain't gonna lie. But mostly, I'm sick and unsatisfied over the "state of LSU FB", especially when i know the team is not playing up to their potential and the coaching/playcalling is lacking.
A question I'd like to pose... As you probably know, Miles threw his name in the hat twice in our coaching search so I have spent a little time watching what he did at Ok. St. What I found the most interesting was players recruited by Miles, along with several I talked with that played for OU credited the success of Ok. St. to Gundy and his offensive philosophy. The biggest "stat" they point to is the success Okie had when Miles turned over the offensive play calling and stepped back from it. So, the question is this...just how much control does Fisher have in what plays are called on O? It seems, based on some opinions here I've read, that Fisher has been hand-cuffed compared to the freedom he had with Saban. True? Just curious....TIA.
Re: A question I'd like to pose... A Division I head coach manages a football program. He's doing his job when he hires a good coordinator and lets him do his job. Nick was very rare in wanting to also do a lot of hands-on coaching and defensive play calling. But Nick was a driven individual. No. Many opinions you read here are based on nothing truthful, just on wild speculation. The offense looks like the same Jimbo Fisher offense that we've seen for three years. Miles has stated that he discusses game plans with the OC but that Jimbo call all the plays during the game. Jimbo has had no complaints. At least he can talk the the press, something Nick never allowed him to do. There are also people here who will swear that Nick and Jimbo did not get along. The fact is . . . none of the coaches are on record as saying that Les Miles hampers Jimbo in any way. No evidence of drammatic changes in Jimbo's offense can be seen. Everybody is just speculating . . and you bought it. Obvious point # 1 -- It is a mistake to judge Les Miles by statements from the disgruntled team that he left behind. They are just sucking up to their new coach. Did Bama players opinions of Francione suddenly change after he dumped you for A&M? You bet they did. Obvious point # 2 -- It is also a mistake to judge Les Miles by statements from players that were in-state rivals of OSU. If I spoke to Auburn players, do you think that they would give Shula high marks? Not a chance.
The thing is red, I heard statements like that from OSU and OU players and fans alike. I don't have a dog in this fight about Miles/Fisher/Pelini...just curious if some see such a difference, why? Hell, IMO a win is a win whether it is 16-13, 9-0, or by 30+ points. With the majority of the defenses in the SEC ranked in the top half of Div. 1 seeing low scoring games should be expected, not a point of controversy and subject of criticism. (unless you only score 2 td's in 4 SEC games. ....that, I expected much earlier in the season.)
This is one of the very best posts that have ever appeared on this forum. I agree with this post. The prediction concerning how much easier our victories would be if Saban were still the coach is speculative, and I don't know if I agree with that one part. I've been struggling all season with my thoughts on our new coaching staff, because I was not thrilled with our hire of Les Miles. My pre-season prediction was very grim, and, I am thankful that nobody on this great forum has called me out for being so pessimistic back in late August. It must be because people around here are cutting me some slack here and there, and I'm kind of humbled when I think of that . . . . I'm humbled and grateful. We are having a great season! I do share and agree with islstl's thoughts and opinions in this post. To the extent that Coach Miles has us playing too tight or conservative, I attribute this to his inexperience as a SEC coach. I am trying to be confident that he will grow as a SEC HC and get better and better with each season. Coach Pelini? Well . . . I must confess . . . I thought that he was a good hire at first, but after the Tenn game, I recalled how much the Okla. U. fans blamed him for their bad pass defense, and I began to believe that they were right. What do we think of Bo now? Well . . . Bo knows defense. I think that we all agree on that now, based most solidly on the halftime adjustments that he made during the Alabama game. At halftime of the Bama game, I would have bet 100 bucks that we would not shut down Bama's offense in the 2nd half. Bo proved me wrong. NO STUMBLING AGAINST OLE MISSY OR ARKY!! THE GAME AGAINST LSU IS THE ONLY BOWL GAME THESE FOES WILL KNOW THIS YEAR. We must take care of business. I will give our coaching staff FULL credit, if we win our next two games.
islstl: The loss of Broussard may be the ONLY reason why our offense has seemed to struggle this season more than it should. You MUST remain open to this possibility. Have you thought about this enough? I think that this might be the real reason. If I, Jean Lafitte, were to declare that the ONLY reason why our offense has seemed to struggle this year is because we lost our biggest and best RB for the season before the first game, HOW would you refute me?
