1. Don't know if this has been discussed or not but...

Ok, whoever wins the NC game is going to be undefeated and lets just say Auburn beats Va Tech and ends the season undefeated. We have another split national championship. Why doesn't Auburn just say they are national champions like USC did last year? I mean if you can get away with it, why not? And how about Utah and Boise State, say they win their bowl games and they end the season undefeated...why not give them part of the national championship? But the media won't do it. They won't even MENTION the fact that there are 3 other undefeated teams and that there should maybe be another split national championship.

    Also....
Lee Corso has been riding Auburn all season long and since they beat #15 Tennessee by only 10 points in the SEC Championship game he thinks that OU and USC are the two best teams...its like HELLO? On the same exact day the #1 USC Trojans beat the UCLA Bruins (not even in the top 25) by only 5 points and did they ever mention that? NO and you know why? Because its USC. The media is a bunch of bull $h*t!
  2. you answered your own question in the last paragraph. AU gets NOTHING and will like it. Deservedly so due to their 1%'ers and their classless coach.

AU will get no share of the NC. they will order fake rings but it will say 12-1 with one loss being to Va Tech. so its all moot.
  3. Yeah, they definitely pumped up that rivalry game at home when they wouldn't give any credit to OU's tuff rivalry game on the road against a Top 25 ranked team, OSU.

It blows your mind at times.

    They are the media darlings.

Their favorite media darling player is going to win the Heisman too.
  4. Exactly

    Oh god, don't remind me.
  5. Don't blame USC for proclaiming themselves National (AP) Champions. Blame the pollsters (AP). It's not so much that the media (AP) loves USC as it is the media (AP) loves the media (AP). They want to be the kingmakers and the BCS was stealing their thunder. LSU just happened to get in the way last year.
  6. Finally a post that pretty much says it all.
  7. You OU fans are in such a perfect position. When OU beats USC by 2-3 touchdowns, the media will proclaim the Sooners as one of the best teams in recent memory.

If that sounds familiar, it should, since it's exactly what most media types said about OU all the way up to the Big XII title game last year.

Oh, the herd mentality of the sports media. Priceless. :dis:
  8. fine with me. the heisman has proven itself in recent years to be nothing more than the kiss of death once the winner gets to the NFL.

i'd LOOOVE to see leinfart flop in the pro's. i wonder if the media will still suck him off so regularly when it happens.
  9. The difference is, last year USC claimed half of the national title cause the AP voted them champs. Auburn can't just claim that they are champs, they have to get AP votes and the only way I see that happening is if AU absolutely blows Vtech out. I'm talking by 30 to 40 points. If AU keeps it close with Vtech, there is no way they get the AP trophy.

Last year it didn't matter what LSU did in the Sugar Bowl, the AP was hell bent on voting USC number one to spite the BCS. We had no chance at the AP trophy last year.

Those were exactly my thoughts when I witnessed Corso going on about how AU barely beat UT and that is what convinced him that USC and OU were number one and two. He must have missed the USC/UCLA game. :hihi:

Not to mention that USC had a lot more close calls during the season than AU. Did that not accure to Corso?

USC barely beat Vtech, Oregon State, Cal, and Stanford. AU barely beats UT in the SECCG and that's why he say AU is number three???? Cause of one game??? That was the deciding factor. Did he totally disregard USC's regular season when making his assessment about who should be number one and two?

I think Corso watched the SECCG with the mindset of that game being the determining factor of how good AU is. He told himself that if AU does well then they are deserving and if not then they are just a number three team. You can't take one game, you must look at the entire season.
  10. Yeah I know thats why they aren't giving Auburn half the NC. But thats not my point, my point is that since there are going to be 3 teams undefeated at the end of the season why not split the championship up again? And just have all the coaches of undefeated teams say "I think we just won us a championship" like Pete Carrol did last year.
