I heard a rumor that they're closing I-10 East by Beaumont at 6:00 PM tonight. Have any of you heard this? Any info is appreciated.

    Contained Chaos Don't we all?

Doesn't seem logical. You'd rather people not be heading west, towards the projected path. Also, I don't know why they would close it tonight if it's not supposed to land until Saturday. Of course, I'm assuming this rumor is hurricane-related.

I know, it's completely inexplicable, unless they think La. can't take any TX refugees.

Just checking though, b/c that would change a LOT of peoples plans, including those headed to the game.

    Carface What the...?

On Walton and Johnson this morning, they were saying that they said that people should head west... I assume it's because of the Katrina refugees, yes.

Exactly !!! We have no place for any evacuees to go.

    I think it's just a stupid rumor.

Tx DOT shows nothing regarding a closure--http://www.dot.state.tx.us/txdot.htm

Besides, closing off an evac route under such circumstances is retarded, IMO.

Hey, I'm heading to Metairie tonight. Is Cox Cable back up and running yet? If not, I may just bring my DirecTV dish...LOL. No way I'm missing the game on Saturday.
