    Are the Amazon forest and the Boreal forest significant "carbon sinks"... that is, areas that absorb massive amounts of the atmosphere's carbon dioxide?

    Would there be more or less carbon dioxide in the atmosphere without the Amazon and Boreal forests?

    Yes as long as there is abundant atmospheric CO2 available. You do agree plants need CO2 to grow and to convert CO2 into food?
