1. Trivia:

q: When was the last time two 300 win pitchers faced off (other than Maddux v Clemens)?

    a: ?
  2. Steve Carlton v. Don Sutton? I keep thinking it's Niekro, but I'll go with Sutton. I'm 99.9% sure Carlton was one of 'em.
  3. August 4, 1987 @ Anaheim (Angels won 12-3)
    Don Sutton - Angels
    Steve Carlton -Twins
  4. WOOHOO! NLMD Strikes again!
  5. In addition to that...

There had been four matchups of 300-game winners in the modern era, all between June 28, 1986, and Aug. 4, 1987, all involving California's Don Sutton in the AL. Sutton made two starts against Phil Niekro and one each against Tom Seaver and Steve Carlton.

Up until the Clemens/Maddux matchup in 2005, the last time NL pitchers with 300 or more victories faced each other was a July 21, 1892, game between Philadelphia's Tim O'Keefe and St. Louis' Jim "Pud" Galvin.
  6. You're welcome.
  7. Wonder how many the rocket would have without his juice? Who would you consider to be the better pitcher? Ill go with Maddux considering he has been a gold glove winner since the Eisenhower Administration.
  8. You guys are funny diggin up all this old chit.
  9. MADDOG
  10. Maddux.

Clemens may throw hard on juice, but Maddux can paint a corner at 82 mph like no one else ever. Maddux and Glavine could throw forever because their deliveries are effortless.

Maddux's fastball looks like a screwball on the old video games.
