Ahh, all he has to do is write a formal letter of explanation and apology like that kid from Northwestern did with the steroids last year.

NFL teams forgive quickly if you have mad skills.

Wow, all these numerical discrepancies are nothing to get hung up on, people. The fact remains, way, way more people get high than many folks realize. Many of them refuse to realize it based on a preconcieved notion that they would somehow know if a total stranger did it. Nothing could be further from the truth. Quite a few perfectly normal, productive, successful members of society do it regularly.

My second to last semester in college, I took 17 hours (the majority of which were senior-level engineering classes), held a job, worked out religiously, and smoked everyday. My GPA that semester: 3.7. I quit doing it my last semester with no trouble. Unmotivated and lazy people are just that before becoming 'burn outs.' If it weren't pot, it would be something else, not necessarily even a substance, that would cause their loserness to come out.

You forgot to mention Michael Clayton!

Saltyone, I also have kids about to get into high school . It worries me everyday that I hope my kids not ever get involved not only with pot, but with the heavier stuff, including heavy drinking. Even at 10 %, I think it is a lot not just with athletes, but with any student population.

How true. While I dont smoke it anymore myself I know a TON of VERY, VERY successful people who smoke weed all the time. People in their 40's and 50's earning well into the six figures. Good family people, church going and PTO moms alike.

Hmmm...I have to agree with everyone else on this one. Salty you are oblivious to the world apparently. That "level headed kid" just got busted for 2 ounces of weed and 4 grand in his pocket. That "level headed" perception is what anyone who does drugs wants you to see.

The fact that one FB from back in the day, that is now your church friend didn't do drugs doesn't mean that it doesn't happen now. Times have changed.

Btw, just because someone is in church doesn't mean they always go by the Good Book. I've been to churches and known the druggies, whores, and flat out bad people that look like little angels to people in the church.

You're obviously blind to the big picture...

First, I've known a number of LSU athletes that smoked pot regularly. But to say most athletes smoke pot on a constant basis is wrong. For one thing, all athletes take drug test, which do detect pot. If you get caught the first time nothing really happens, just counseling. But if you get caught again there are more severe consequences.

My basis for saying this; I ran track at LSU for a short while and I personally knew over half the football team, and almost the entire basketball and track teams at LSU in the late 90's. The football team under Dinardo was pretty wild at that time (not just Cecil and Larry), but I can say I knew the guys who smoked occasionally and I don't believe over half the team smoked, even in the summer. I will admit during the late spring and summer I did hear and see more players smoking pot.

One more note, somewhere in the post a person made the comment about black athletes smoking pot. From my experience more white athletes (runners, soccer players, swimmers, volleyball players) smoked pot than black athletes who played the same sports.

What facts are you presenting on your side? I know several football players that don't smoke weed....

Have you seen "most" smoke weed? If not, it is off of hearsay (sp?)

I think it is funny to see both sides arguing.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle
