1. Chase Pittman

I just wanted to mention that I think Chase has turned out to be a solid player on Defense and an intregal part of the Tiger D. He could very well turn out to be a real leader next year. If he plays this way from now on I see him starting and making some headlines next year, heck this year too!

he's starting to anchor his spot and come into his own!

    Geaux Chase! :thumb: :geauxtige :geauxtige
  2. 100% Agree.......He looks like a real force for the LSU defense
  3. Re: Chase Pittman

Our D-line will have to be the leaders of our defense next season--especially if LaRon decided to enter the draft.

After this season, we're losing Prude, Stevenson, Wroten, Williams, Hollis, Vaughn, Oliver, Kuale....

Definately returning, we'll still have Chevis Jackson and Sammy Joseph at corner (Zenon at nickel), and Jessie Daniels returning in the secondary.

Our D-line is losing 2 outstanding players on the interior, but we have depth to ease some of the loss. Ryan Willis and Chase Pittman will both return as starters on the ends and Kirston Pittman will be back as the probable #1 backup and pass-rushing specialist.

But our linebacking core takes a huge hit, IMO. Thankfully, we'll have Highsmith back, but other than him, we're going to have to start 2 LB's that will ultimately have little, if any, significant playing experience (with Luke Sanders being the most experienced other than Highsmith).

Basically, we should be ok in the secondary and along the line, but our linebackers will be a bit of a mystery next season and our run defense will almost certainly take a hit...at least to start the season.

Sorry to already look that far ahead, guys...and to go off on a tangent....but this thread just got me thinking....

    Chase is playing really well.

As for our inexperience next season, it looks like our first 5 games will be a great opportunity to let them settle in and get valuable experience.

  5. Don't forget about Dorsey up front. He's a beast! Done very well in his PT.

Francois is supposed to be a freak at end. Probably be a good combo with Chase, like when we had Hill and Spears.

Pelini has done a very good job of rotating in a lot of the youth this year and they look to be quite strong.
  6. I agree. I like seeing our younger players get some valuable playing time. Don't forget about Tyson Jackson as well.
  7. Nobody was going to come into DE and replace Marcus Spears. But Pittman has been solid. And since the othr three linemen are graduating, he will have to be The Man next year.
  8. I really like this kid. I'm glad Mack Brown released him, it has been beneficial to us. He was great early in the year and has been a little quiet lately. But he came to life yesterday. I love that hit he put on Croyle after the pass and he just fell flat on Croyle face to face and did the face mask bump.

Bama and Croyle wanted a personal foul but there was nothing wrong with that hit and nothing wrong with the face mask bump. I would love to know what he said to him. I think that really intimidated Croyle and then Landry laid him out a little later. I was surprised LSU didn't get to Croyle hardly any in the 1st half but they nailed him in the 2nd.
  9. Pittman has been all over the field this year sacking the QB, batting down passes and stopping the run. With the experience he has gained this year playing and learning the system he should be something to watch in 2006. I'm very glad we have him.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
  10. Re: Chase Pittman

I love watching LaRon play. But I think he may need another year. He hasn't had the stellar year that we all wanted him to have. I am by no means knocking his season. His play has been integral to the defense. But he has dropped a few INTs in his hands, and had a few too many PIs called against him. I think that if he stays another year and has a big senior year, his stock will rise significantly.

As for the Defense, we have some young guys that got some PT earlier this year. Dorsey has seen some significant PT, and guys like Tyson Jackson and RJF will have an impact. I believe that Chase will be the leader up front and while LaRon Landry will be the emotional leader and Jessie Daniels will be the vocal leader of the secondary. Can't forget abut Craig Steltz either. Chevis Jackson is steady improving, Zenon and Sammy Joseph will compete for the other corner and nickel spots. Zenon clearly loves to lay the wood, and is a better fit at nickel right now. He has been beaten a few times, but what LSU CB hasn't?

LB will be another transition spot to fill. Highsmith will clearly anchor these guys next year, with a young Luke Sanders needing to fulfill his potential sooner than expected.

LSU Football. Doesn't get any better than this...:thumb:
