Third, LSU triumphed because JaMarcus Russell—whose receivers need to pay him back in a major way after their unconscionable end-zone drops in this just-completed game—wouldn’t let his team lose... again. Yes, the quarterback plays a very uneven game every time he takes the field, but when the chips are down, he makes plays. Think about it: down to Arizona State? Winning touchdown pass. Down 17-14 to Florida? Winning touchdown drive. Down 10-7 in this game after Kenny Irons’ electrifying touchdown run? Go-ahead TD drive. Down 17-14 after Brandon Cox’s ballsy touchdown pass to Anthony Mix on Tuberville’s courageous (and correct) fourth and goal grab for the gusto? Russell led his mates right down the field in response, setting up Jackson’s tying kick. Russell is a resilient player, and it’s that fearlessness that has enabled LSU to win in 2005, even while playing a lot of plug-ugly ball on offense. or what about last year against Iowa? or Oregon State?
TRUE I also think a good bit of what he does is dictated by the OC and MIles. which means the bad as well as the good. so they also deserve some of the credit, good and bad.
He is the best quarterback in the SEC, no doubt in my mind. I just wish they would let him unleash his talents to their fullest for just one game. If they did, I would bet a million that no one would ever doubt him again.
I think JaMarcus has the most potential in the SEC. Maybe you are right that if Jimbo unleashed JaMarcus he would be amazing, but who would they unleash him to? A QB is nothing if his receivers can't catch. Maybe the OC isn't restricting JR because they doubt him, but they doubt the receivers.
I think Croyle might be the best in the SEC right now. Mostly because of his experience which allows him to make better decisions. JaMarcus might be the best as far as raw talent and potential talent. I thought JaMarcus made some good decisions last night and is getting better each week. (Made a few bad ones too, but he is definately improving)
Yep. His decisions to get hurt year in and year out are impressive.:hihi: Indeed. He was much better at throwing the ball away in the face of an eminent sack and not throwing those goofy interceptions. That'll be the best pass defense he'll face all year. Things will certainly continue to get better.
