my $0.02 ...... although i don't buy the "3rd best NFL qb in two years" bit, i must admit that i'm envious of having a qb with all the skills and tools that Quinn brings.

IMO, his inconsistent performance in the Sugar was due more to being overmatched than due to his individual abilities. You must remember, Notre Dame usually gets into a better bowl than their on-field performance deserves .... and that's one of the reasons they've lost nine-straight bowl games.

Granted, without Smarjanikstaan, Quinn might not be a household name, but it shouldn't take away from the argument that Quinn has most of the qualifications that NFL scouts are looking for in a pro arm.

yall are off on this one. nd max protected all game AND their wrs were rarely open. very tough for any qb to look good in that situation. he wasnt getting hit so you think it should have been easy, but no. i dont know how good quinn is (first time ive seen him), but i know you cant say he's not good because of this game.

plus, what can you expect when your coach fakes a punt in your end in the first quarter?----that let everyone know that ND knew they were in trouble.

why no screens? i dont remember any, but id think it would have been successful.

Brady is good, but not great. JaMarcuss is good, on the cusp of great. Samardjia is pretty good, but not great. Put ND up against any quality team, and neither Samardjia or BQ shine as much. Samardjia is big and gets open pretty well...just doesn't stay open very long...due to the speed of the LSU defensive backs and linebackers. Notre Dame had a poor season as far as quality opponents are concerned. Still in a BCS game...amazing. I am predicting now...BQ will not make it in the NFL.

ND is 0-16 against top 10 tens over the last three years.

ND ran several WR screens to Samardija, much like our bubble screen. However, our team speed didn't allow those passes to get much beyond the line of scrimmage. The bubble is highly effective when 1) you have a WR that is a strong blocker (eg, Bowe), and 2) when you have the speed advantage. ND had neither, against us.

And Samardija may be one of the most overrated WRs in college fb. Hell, I can probably look like an All-American against the service academies. Much like Quinn, I believe he is a product of the system.

I agree with our friend Caddilac.
I think Vince Young MAY have something to say about 3rd best QB in the NFL.

Yes BQ looked bad, but throwing at a WR's feet and missing WR's is terrible.

He was very inaccurate. JR had pressure on him at times, made a mistake once but others he zipped the ball to his WR's. JR was accurate BQ was not. End of point.

BQ is not that accurate of a QB anyway. I've seen him play and have not been impressed in any games he has been in. He was OK and would be OK on any SEC team, but nothing great. Playing a weak schedule has made him look much better than he really is. If he couldn't handle the speed of the defense and the speed of the game in the Sugar Bowl he will not be able to do it in the NFL. I would put my money on Brennan than Quin.

Actually, that would be Jason White. And he met the same fate at the hands (paws?) of the Tigers.

screens to the rb. wr routes to draw coverage away and let the rushers through. should be effective since lsu was blitzing a bit--granted he'd have to get the ball over the DL.

i think if you look at the stats both quinn and schmegma had many great games against good to great teams. ill check.
