1. What exactly are Boosters? Is it something official? How do they work? What's in it for them? What kind of regulations are put on them? Do they deal with recruits and athletes? or just one or the other?

I don't really know anything about the subject and am curious. Any info would be appreciated.
  2. they make sure that the players have new cars to drive and lots of strippers

  3. boosters are usually alums with a lot of money who live vicariously through their school's athletic programs. They offer money, cars, jobs, hookers whatever to land a recruit or keep them happy either knowingly or unknowingly by the coach. Goes on everywhere and the staff and admins often look the other way.

Its a lot harder to get away with now but the NCAA is not very just in handing out penalties to those caught. Bama shoulda been given the death penalty but they didn't because it was Bama. there are far too many examples to cite.
  4. Here's a photo of one of those "rich" boosters:
  5. Technically a booster is anyone who gives monetary value to that university's athletic's program. If you are a TAF member, Gridiron Club member, etc., then you are a booster. If you have a proven prior relationship with a player or recruit then it is OK(ie. Butch Pierre's relationship with Tasmin Mitchell). I attended the GC meeting prior to the Oregon St. game & they handed out a pamphlet from the NCAA that had booster guidelines in it.

The safest thing to do is to never buy anything for a player or recruit. JMO.

  6. If you are a season ticket holder you are also considered a booster. If you support a college athletic program with any type of donation or support you are a booster.
  7. Well said Marc. You hit the nail on the head.
    You too GCT.
  8. So are all members of the TAF considered boosters? If I see a player out and buy him a beer (or a burger if he is not of legal age :hihi: ) is it illegal if I am a member of the TAF?
  9. I believe that is the case.
  10. That is correct. Also, once you become a booster, you are considered a booster until the day you die.

You basically can not buy a player ANYTHING.
