1. Compressor shouldn’t be more than $300. Get a junk yard part. Don’t be a snob.

I talked to a mechanic today about replace all 4 ball joints. Wants $695. The mechanic. The guy with a lift and air tools. Wants $695 to replace ball joints. Absurd.
  2. Bruh, that's not a walk in the park even with a lift and impacts. I hate doing those
  3. It’s a whole lot easier, though. Leaps and bounds easier
  4. Depending on which engine, $175 - $350 new.
  5. I can get a brand new one for 170. Better than I thought. Im gonna regret it if I start. Because Ill read where some asshole says he did his in 15 mins but thats only because he didnt have an actual 8mm wrench and instead had to use a salad fork which sorta cut into his time. Meanwhile 12 hours later.

  6. Just be sure if you replace the compressor to change the orifice tube and dryer too. Apparently that’s a thing.
  7. Anytime you can get the wheels off the ground it's a plus. The ability to stand under the vehicle is invaluable. None of that makes changing ball joints and the arms any more enjoyable.

  8. I would skip YouTube on this one @tirk and instead join a Toyota board. Lots of good info there
  9. Then go to youtube
  10. Thats the first thing I do. Very common problem many with same or similar issues. The more specific you describe your problem in google the more relevant results.

Blinking ac light (means compressor not spinning at correct rpms --probably to prevent belt from shredding if compressor seizes)
    hot air
squealing belt on startup and idling funny (means my compressor is seized I assume)

I usually do youtube once im knee deep in it, After its assembled when my check engine light comes on.
