Once everybody calms down I think a couple of things should be recognized:

-This game is going to make this team better, ala Florida last year.

-Russell has gotten invaluable game experience and will get the playing time he needs to mature.

-The sloppy conditions totally negated LSU biggest advantage, team speed. There is no reason to panic as most game aren't played after a monsoon and the SEC Championship game is in the Georgia Dome.

-After whipping up on Ark. State LSU will go into Auburn as underdogs...if they lose it's not the end of the world but I still say we get out of there with a win.

-We can still get through the SEC with one loss and make it to Atlanta; Jamarcus will be pretty seasoned by then.....we should give Jawga all they want and more.

SEC Championship is the main thing and is completely attainable. This team is not a bad as they looked, the conditions, youth, 1st game misfires, high expectations and a pretty solid Oregon St. combined for the "perfect storm" tonight. Thank God we got the win and I hope they find a place for Marcus Randall to play because he's a good kid and a team player..... :geaux:

i completely agree. high pressure experience like that is great for russell. there is a big silver lining in this performance. not that it is that dark of a cloud, because a w is a w!

I was saying when the rain came down and forced a time delay that this could be a sign. As the game wore on I was saying "we are getting our as8 beat". I have no idea why this team won when they should have lost. OU was the better opponent all night and should have won. It seems Tiger Stadium and the crowd had the reverse effect on them and our own players. What should have happened in fact did not. LSU won,and I'll take that win thank you very much.

I wouldn't go annointing JR as the starting QB yet. That is still Coach Saban's call not ours. :dis:

Both teams played on the same field how could it make one team slower and not slow down the other. Missed tackles were crutial to keeping LSU on the field and resting thier D. Not getting momentum when we needed it to take the game over. Missed coverage for a TD. Not to mention a fumble to start the game. UGLY tonight. Face it we would not have beat anyone in the SEC tonight. They have a lot of work to do and I look foward to see them answer the call next Saturday.

JR should get snaps with the 1st team and timing and touch passes will get better this is a talented QB. Kyle Williams had a great game and looks to play with a lot of outward emotion.

I'm not making excuses for the miscues on LSU's side, it's a fact that sloppy conditions tend to negate speed in football. Astroturf tends to magnifiy the difference in team speed. That's not revolutionary info.....

Skyler fumbling the opening kick-off was huge and there is no excuse for that....he's a team leader and experienced at handling kicks so if you're going to blame somebody in my opinion that put us behind the 8-ball right off the bat and Marcus Randall didn't play will with the pressure on him tonight. Hopefully he can shake it off and help the team during the season in certain situations. That's for the coaching staff to decide, though. My point was just that we still have a damn good chance at being in Atlanta this year and I truly believe that.

I'm not counting on that after seeing how hard those kids played for Croom tonight. Croom seems to have brought some discipline and I'll wait until we actually get past that game to worry about the line on the LSU game.

Ditto on Atlanta. We shall see in game two a big improvement. These guys did not quit and that a good thing for tonight. My comment on the wet field is actually something Saban said last year and it make since to me.
