Just wanted to get your opinions. I've never been to any football away game before, but this year I want to try and make a couple. I'm going to the Miss. St. game in Starkville (I know, I've heard all about Starkvegas, but some of my girlfriend's family went there), but I want to make another. I don't really feel like going to Vandy so my question is this: 'Bama or Ole Miss? Also, how do ya'll feel about going to Atlanta for the SECCG? Thanks in advance
Bama will be a better game, but you need to see "The Grove" for either an LSU or Egg Bowl game to full grasp how out of touch with reality Ole Miss truly is.
Away trips are fun. I have only missed three in the last 2 yrs. I have been to more away games than I have been to Tiger Stadium over the last few years. SECCG is a must. We will be there again this year, '01, '03, '05, you see a pattern developing here? Really, if you have a chance to see the Tigers on the road, catch as many as you can.
There is good in every crowd. And bad. If you asked a question such as, "Has anyone seen Ray lately?" the Ole Miss fan would probably (as he looked down his nose at you) answer with something like, "He wandered into the woods for the purpose of defication, whereas he was discovered and devoured by a herd of wild swine." Supposedly a joke. The LSU fan would simply say, "He went in the woods to take a crap and the swamp pigs ate him." :hihi: :hihi: :geauxtige come on football season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MUCH better answer!!!
Ole Miss was fun. We stayed in a town that proudly boasted "coffin capital of the nation". And the comic hilarity followed.. Just a tip, stay away from the Grove, I really wasnt impressed at all and we found a great spot to tailgate surrounded with LSU fans, plus a few nice Ole Miss people. I know Im looking forward to Vandy away this year. The game might not be great but Ive never been to their campus and Im sure its a pretty one (Unlike UT's "concrete campus").
I've been to both Ole Miss and Bama. A lot depends on if you know anyone at Ole Miss. We did and had a good time but not sure what we would've done without local know-how. Same kinda goes for Tuscaloosa but a group of us had a great time (with no local help) in 96 or 97. Whatever year we beat them 26-0. must have been '97. Ole Miss tailgates in the grove and its kinda group tailgating, but you're talking about people who care more about center pieces and table settings as opposed to good food and good times. would like to go to vandy this year cuz i've never been.
It's too bad the Egg Bowl is n't on Thanksgiving anymore. Nothing like hearing Ole Miss fans, with Redman juice dribbling down their starched white shirt, calling State fans "redneck!". Having the hired help cuttin' the turkey for a pre-game spread doesn't translate well outside of Lafayette County.
I feel you should give up any tickets you receive to the SECCG to me. It's one of the best road trips out there, second only to Florida............
Thats what Ive heard, I havent been to an SECCG but I went to Georgia last year cuss: ) and the highlight of the trip was Atlanta. Very fun.
Ya know, I have actually made an away game at Vandy and I loved it. The Vandy fans were a fun group during the game and the area is really nice. I hope to make another trip there some day for a game, perhaps this upcoming season.
