1. Why grow potatoes at all. They are one of the cheapest foods in the supermarket. Use that land to grow the expensive stuff.
  2. Nah, I was just funnin,.. I live in potato country. Klamath Falls is home to the almost famous,
    Klamath Gem Silver Russet.

When Jesse Jackson was running for President, he visited, there was a picture of him in the local paper, holding a potato. :D

  6. @KyleK , how's the garden? I 'm planted up but late. Had planted two tomato plants early but something I sprayed in yard hit one. Planted the rest last week. Only have 5 tomato plants, a banana pepper, a bell and a giant marconi pepper.
  7. I haven't taken any pics lately, but we are coming along nicely. Potatoes are really healthy, corn is up and looking good. We have 16 rows of corn, 120' each, planted 3 weeks apart. Gonna plant 8 more rows next week. Tomatoes are in, some squash is in, more to come. Got about 200' of peppers in and several rows of field peas and green beans.

Everything is looking really good right now. Rain so far has been perfect to keep everything happy.

  8. There used to be a guy with a big flatbed truck he would load with watermelons every year and sell them by the roadside. He had a big sign saying they were Washington Parish watermelons.
  9. Is a field pea a Crowder pea?
  10. Maybe it's a black-eyed pea or a green pea. Not sure if Crowder is the same as black-eyes
