Huggins?!? As in Cincinnati's ex-coach Huggins??? The guy that was FIRED because his players couldn't graduate--had one of the WORST graduation rates in college basketball??!!!! THe guy that stated he WOULD NOT CHANGE HIS RECRUITING STYLE (i.e. --"I'm going after the same 'type' of player") THAT Huggins???

PLEASE tell me I'm NOT thinking of the same guy you are.....

    Yawnnnn.....
Bob Huggins established himself as one of the nation's premier major basketball coaches. His 567-199 record (.740) amassed during his 24 seasons as a head coach ranks him eighth in winning percentage and 11th in victories among active Division I mentors. His string of 14 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances is the third-longest active streak. His teams have won 20 or more games in all but four of his 24 campaigns and he has averaged 23.5 victories a season, 26.0 wins per campaign over the past nine years. Huggins, 51, has compiled a 399-127 record (.759) in his 16 years at Cincinnati, making him the winningest coach in terms of victories and percentage in the school's rich basketball history. Huggins has directed Cincinnati to 10 conference regular season titles and eight league tournament titles. The Bearcats have been to postseason play in each of Huggins' 16 seasons at UC, advancing to the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament three times and in 1991-92, appearing in the Final Four.

It doesn't matter if a coach wins. By having a horrible graduation rate or by commiting NCAA violations it casts the team into a bad light. It's not always about winning or losing but how you make your university look in the end.

You can yawn and spew out all the stats you want...Huggins ran Cincy's reputation as a CENTER FOR HIGHER LEARNING in the ground. His players were thugs...his players couldn't spell "cat"....and the alum and administrators had enough of it.

So, "Yawn" all you want....Bob Huggins is a cancer.... His recruiting "tactics" if you will, foced the NCAA to keep a close eye on the Bearcat program. Now, forgive me if I'm NOT excited about going BACK to a head coach that the NCAA is already more that pissed off at, to run the Tiger program...

You make a good point. I don't know if the problem is on the court or on the sideline. I have never had a lot of confidence in Brady and have said on more than one occassion that he wins just enought games to keep his job. He is a good, competent coach, but that is all. I question if he has it in him to take the LSU basketball program to the next level.

I don't think they hired Brady as the guy to get LSU basketball to the next level. Brady was hired to get us through probation, but since then he's continued to put a better product on the court, so he gets some slack there. The administration's goal for basketball appears to be a team that can compete for the SEC championship, and not much of an emphasis on the national level. Brady can do that.

No offense, but the schools that have an administration goal for national championships in basketball are UConn, Kansas, Duke, Kentucky, UNC, etc.....all schools that don't do SQUAT in football....all other schools in the country DO focus primarily on winning their conferences...
