has anyone noticed they are putting the word to the second ver of the alma mater on the screens at the stadium instead of the first verse that everyone sings.

They flip-flop between the verses. It's a joke within the group I sit with, every game we ask how are we supposed to learn the words if they keep changing them on us every week.

The band likes the second verse better and they are the ones that choose which one gets shown. They like that the second verse ends with "Forever LSU" (and if you listen, the student section gets really loud for that part). They tend to alternate which verse they use. Next week it will probably be the first again.

The second verse gets my vote. Its definitely appropriate to end w/ "forever LSU."

Why not sing both? I mean, it isnt exactly that long of a song. Seems like I remember singing the whole thing when I was in Tigerband. I know we sang the whole thing after rehearsels and such, but I am pretty sure we did it at the games, too. I have to agree, my favorite 3 lines of the entire alma mater is:

Our worth in life will be thy worth
we pray to keep it true,
And may thy spirit live in us, FOREVER L-S-U.

It is just a very moving atmosphere hearing so many people sing it with the nice rallentando at the end.

Then again, my second favorite part is the first two lines of the first verse. I dunno, I think we should sing em both. Takes all of about a minute.

Actually, there are three: Annie, David, and Thomas.

The Boyd Hall that I was referring to was Thomas Boyd Hall. So am I right that it is one of the Boyd Hall's? I was really just guessing Thomas Boyd because thats where the Chancellor, Undergrad Admissions, and Regitrar's offices are. There may be some other stuff in there, too. Just seems like a logical place to have it. Then again, they probably got tricky on me and put in CEBA.

Its just freakin' stupid to put up the second verse at the game. Nobody sings the second verse. If they want people to sing it, put up the first verse all of the time like they used to. People know it and actually sing it. Nobody knows the second verse to the National Anthem or America the Beautiful. Nobody knows, and only Tiger Band cares, about the second verse of the Alma Mater.
