Kirby Smith was a Confederate general. There is a dorm named after him on LSU's campus. It's that high-rise that shows up behind the stadium when they do the aerial shots during the football games. It looks like a housing project, and I believe it has actually been condemned.

But they also have very high property taxes, which pretty much offset the lack of income tax from what I'm told.

He was also in charge of the Confererate territory west of the Mississippi. It was refered to by some as "Kirby Smithdom".
