1. If I'm not mistaken, Gaylon Hall is dead. But then again, with the way Bama treats the memory of Bear, it might be a good hire. Heard he would come cheap.:)
  2. Maybe Saban will take the Alabama job, really screw them up in revenge for the Francione fiasco, then retire with all that Bama money.
  3. I understand. Good points.

With regard to whether Bama would ever chase off Saban befoe Saban moves on of his own volition, I'd say that Saban's never been fired from a coaching job, partly because he's a great coach and partly because he will move on when he can tell that his team has peaked out and headed for a slump. That's why I believe he's going to bolt for Bama . . . he knows that he's not going to re-build he Fins to success, and he will not stand and suffer the kind of adversity that losing brings . . . he will move on first . . . and that's what I think he'll do here.

If Saban's "sixth sense" kicks in in a few years after he gets to Bama, and he senses that approaching peak and slump, he will not fight through the adversity, and will move on. In the case of the Fins, there has been no peak, but only slump. My guess is Saban bolts for Bama because he bolts jobs when he senses that impending peak or slump. Others who say that Saban's character will keep him with the Fins until he wins something with them would disagree with my assessment of his psychology.

In any event, I can't wait to see the look on Nick's face after the LSU Tiger football team whips his crimson butt.

    :crystal: LSU!

  4. I could see Nick going to coach at Bama . . . but only if the timing is good for him, not just because it is good for Bama. I don't think this is the time for Nick to make a professional change. There will always be opportunities for Nick if and when he does decide to leave the Phins. This ain't the last or the best offer that Nick will ever receive.
  5. One thing is for sure...Nick will do whatever is best for Nick and Jimmy Sexton. If he bolts for Alabama it won't be because he's enamored with the Crimson Tide, the SEC, or the college game.

If he was looking for a high-paying job with stability, quality resources, and support...he had that at LSU. The man is motivated by challenge and ego. His agent is motivated by the almighty dollar. Together they make a team that will continue to look for the next big gig.

If Bama manages to lure him then they should enjoy whatever success he brings but fully expect that they will be seeking another coach within five years. They should also expect a few more bumps in the road then what we had with Nick at LSU. We have a better recruiting base than Alabama and no competition from other in-state colleges. Bama still has to compete with Auburn and that's a battle they've been losing for quite some time.

I hate to pull against someone who brought us success but my allegiance is to LSU...not one particular person.
  6. If Saban takes the Bama job, it may be the last high paying job he is offered. The pros won't want him anymore, if he fails in Miami and quits before the job is finished. That would be a big black mark on Saban for the pros IMO.

He's 54 years old, and he's done most of the climbing he's gonna do. He has a new hill to climb at Miami, how long would that take to finish the job, another 4 years? If he stays at Bama 4 years, he's 58 years old. You going to go looking for new challenges at 58? Maybe, but probably not.

The 70 mil. vs. 15 mil. deal is apples and oranges, 7 years vs. 3 years. Saban has to consider what kind of deal he could cut after 3 more seasons. If he figures he can't fix the Dolfins in 3 more years and his next contract will be smaller than his current, the Bama job begins to look attractive, based on his prognostication of what happens 3 years out. If he makes them a playoff contender, he could be looking at something better than his current 4 mil. per season, to the right owner. This could be the deal, where does Saban see the Dolfins in 3 years when his current contract is up. Huizenga could fix that with an extension now, if he still thinks Nick is his man, then Nick wouldn't have to go to Bama.

If Saban takes the Bama offer with 7 mil. signing bonus and 4 mil per year, which is getting ridiculous, he'll be there for a long time, IMO.
  7. How would all of ya'll feel if Saban does go to bama. I will have a hard time watching him over there. I was a big fan. Also, I hate the thought of bama looking there snobby noses at us. Do you think this will make LSU fans hate bama and raise them to our biggest rival? What about the bama posters I see on this board, how would you feel if the roles were reversed?
  8. It ain't like Nick left LSU to go to Alabama. He's just pursuing his career. I've worked at LSU for a long time, but I'd go to work at Bama if it was the right career move. I can't blame Bama for going after the best coach they can find either. It ain't personal.

Ex-LSU coaches have coached in Tiger Stadium for other teams before--Paul Deitzel, Mike Archer, etc. It wasn't that big a deal.
  9. He can go to Bama as far as I'm concerned but I feel about this story the same way I feel about the political ads the last week before the election.
I want the story to DIE!

I like some of the Bama posters here but this whole thing was started by a different Bama poster who thinks Alabama don't stink, one reason is saying Bama is CNS dream job.
Sorry, but the NFL and Dolphins are his dream job.
Its very easy, If you were hired by either which job would you take?
Its obvious to me and it aint the Bama job.

Alabama will only become a rivalry again when and "IF" they become better.
Auburn has replaced them in recent years IMO.
Bama aint what it once was!
  10. Well, it would be tough to see our old coach on the opponents side of the field trying to beat LSU. That would be very tough. Bama is in our own division, for pete's sake, after all.

If Saban Bolts for Bama (which I think he will, because he doesn't want to deal with the adversity of not being able to turn the Fins around), then, surely some sort of Divine Retribution is in order . . . something like being struck by lightning during the LSU/Bama game in Tiger Stadium.

    :hihi:
