To a boy growing up in the '60's in BR, their were three great public figures in media: Sid Crocker, John Ferguson, and "Buckskin Bill" Black.

Sid was the link between Ferguson (WBRZ guy), the LSU TV and radio broadcaster (along with Walter Hill), and his comical rip-off of Topo Gigio (from the Ed Sullivan Show), the infamous Senor Puppet on The Buckskin Bill Show(WAFB guy).

His PA commentary in Tiger Stadium was always great and sometimes comical. At least once a game he would make mention of a car in the parking lot with the "the lights on, the engine running and the doors are locked." It was hokey but everybody went along with the joke and laughed anyway.

But what I will remember the most was his EXCELLENT interviews on "Big Time Wrestling" with Grizzly Smith, Bruiser Bob Sweetan, Scandar Akbar, and the rest of the loony bin wrestlers.

Sid, you are the first to leave the stage of the three giants of the '60's, and we bid you a very fond adieu.

    Thanks for all the memories.

PS: Mods please leave this in the Tiger Forum.
Sid was ALWAYS a Tiger through and through.
  2. Sid was PA when I was at LSU. He's the standard I base announcers on and all pale in comparison. Sid's one of the great ones.
  3. Now THAT was wrestling !
