Welcome to ESPN.com's moderated chat room. On Tuesday, Auburn University RB Carnell "Cadillac" Williams dropped by to answer your questions in chat.

    Cadillac Williams hits chat Tuesday!
The 5-11, 204 lb. senior from Attalla, Alabama is a 2004 preseason All-American and first-team All-SEC selection. Last season, Carnell was a unamimous first-team All-SEC choice by the coaches and was also named first-team All-SEC by the Associate Press.

In Carnell's junior season, he put up huge numbers tying the Auburn single-season record for rushing touchdowns and scoring leading the SEC with 17 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,307 yards in 2003 which ranked fifth in single-season records. Williams has rushed for over 100 yards 11 times and over 150 yards eight times. He has also scored a touchdown in 19-of-29 games in his career earning him six SEC Player of the Week awards in all.

Another Auburn distinction -- Williams is tied with Bo Jackson and James Brooks for the school record with eight career 150-yard games.

Auburn opens its SEC schedule on September 11 at Mississippi State.

The following is a transcript of Williams' July 27 chat:

    Moderator: Here we go!

Carnell Williams: Hi everybody! I'm ready to take your questions!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TC-LINCOLN: Carnell What are your personal goals for the year? Thanks and good luck!

Carnell Williams: Rush for 1500 yards and rush for somewhere close to 15 or 20 TDs. I want to make myself knows as one of the best backs in the country.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kyle, Alabama: I'm still kinda mad at you for not coming out early so you could play for my Dallas Cowboys, but which pro team would you most like to play for in 2005?

Carnell Williams: Well, actually, I am a fan of the Cowboys. I grew up a Dallas fan watching and admiring Emmitt Smith.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Shannon (Huntsville, Alabama): How did it feel to complete that pass in the Music City Bowl?

Carnell Williams: That felt great! I've been telling the coaches all year that I CAN throw the ball. I finally got to show off my arm a little bit!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark (Baton Rouge, Louisiana): Caddy, Which revenge game are you most looking forward to this year? UGA? LSU? Ole Miss?

Carnell Williams: Whoo. Tough one. I mean, I think LSU and Georgia are those kind of games where we went down to their place and didn't play too well for whatever reason. But we really look forward to getting back at all of these teams.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Van, Philadelphia: Carnell, good luck this season. Are you going to have to do more blocking assignments with both you and R Brown in the backfield at the same time?

Carnell Williams: Yes, a little bit more. Not on only run plays but also on picking up the blitz -- which is something I'm really looking forward to and something a lot of people say I need to work on so I'm looking forward to that challenge.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Alex, NH: Does anyone in sports have a better nickname? How'd you get it?

Carnell Williams: Well, actually, I got it b/c in my Jr year in High School, the guy that does Friday Night Football said that I run smooth like a Cadillac and it done carried right on into college.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Auburn, AL: When you sign your 1st multi-million dollar contract with and NFL team will you buy a Cadillac? By the way, thanks for coming back for your senior season.

Carnell Williams: Oh yeah! No doubt! That will be one of the first things I purchase!!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Patrick (New York, NY): Has your running style changed (matured) after the two serious injuries... I was there for both of them and you seem more agressive now.

Carnell Williams: Actually, I really don't think my running style changed. I didn't think about changing it anyway. It wasn't a conscious change. I just run as who I am.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tom (Auburn, Alabama): Which SEC team will make the best effort at attempting to stop you and RB

Carnell Williams: I'd have to say Georgia. They pretty much load guys up there and they really do stop me the best.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CJB (Washington, DC): Caddy, how have you prepared for this season knowing other teams will be keying on you?

Carnell Williams: Well, actually, I tried to put on a little more weight. I'm up to about 210 now. I'm trying to bulk up and wire myself into shape and work hard and push through anything that's thrown at me.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mark, Washington DC: Escalade, how tough a decision was it to stay at Auburn with all the money and fame for grabs in the pros?

Carnell Williams: Oh man, it was real tough. It took a lot of praying to God and talking to my family. It's a difficult decision but when all was said and done I decided that it would be best for me to come back to college and chase some of the dreams here that I've always wanted to accomplish at Auburn.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Steve (Auburn, AL): What are you studying? Are you projected to finish this fall?

Carnell Williams: I'm studying sociology and i'm projected to finish in the spring.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jeremiah (Albertville): Have you spoken with Bo lately about breaking some of his records?

Carnell Williams: Nah, I haven't spoken to him. I've talked to him before ... but not about breaking his records. I'm pretty sure that he knows i'm catching up to him!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KELLY ROME, GA.: What is one thing you would like to do? Not football related.

Carnell Williams: Probably something dealing with coaching little kids. I love coaching kids. If I weren't playing ball this is definitely what I'd want to do.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chip, Birmingham: I think Auburn is being overlooked this year as a true contender for a national title. What do you think?

Carnell Williams: I agree Chip! I really do think we're overlooked. But that's a good thing. We can just kinda sneak up on people. We think that if we win the SEC, the rest will just take care of itself.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jon (Albuquerque, NM): Cadillac, let me start by saying that you are the best RB in college football. With that said, what do you feel you need to work on to have an even better year this year? Good luck in the upcoming season, man.

Carnell Williams: Thanks Jon! I've been working on the small things like the backfield, my blocking techniques. I've been watching a lot of film and fine tuning those things that will really help my game and make me a better player.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cory Huntsville, AL: Caddy, What do you think of the new offense ths year?? How does it compare with last years offense? By the way, War Damn Eagle!!

Carnell Williams: This new offenense is a lot of fun and I think it will be a lot of fun for people to watch. Under Coach B, we'll be throwing a lot down field, but we'll still be running a lot. I think the biggest thing is that we won't be as predictable. We're a threat in many different ways. War Eagle!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Casey (New Orleans, LA): Hey Cadillac, I am an Alabama graduate and I have to say I have been impressed with your character on and off the field. It is refreshing to see the friendship you have with Brodie. Do you cheer for him when you guys aren't playing Bama?

Carnell Williams: Oh yeah, no doubt. When we're not playing Bama, I wish him the best ... every game except that one!!!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rob (Tallahassee, FL): Cadillac, Can you recount the opening play against Alabama last year? I was in the endzone you were running towards and that was one of the most magical moments I've ever seen at Jordan-Hare.

Carnell Williams: Man, I do have to agree! I took a step to the right, i got the ball and there were just great blocks, I went to the sidelines and saw nothing but a lot of green grass all the way to the endzone! It was great!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aaron Toronto, OH: The SEC is my favorite conference. O love the style of play and how every game seems to be a huge rivalry. How do you think the conference shapes up this year?

Carnell Williams: This is going to be a pretty tough year. There not one who can dominate. Sure, Georgia and LSU will be real good, but we'll hold our own ... and hopefully, we'll come out on top.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
katy, birmingham Al: Do you have any rituals you do or wear or listen to before every game for good luck ?

Carnell Williams: I really don't have anything. Before the game I listen to music, not always hard rap, just music to relax my mind and get ready.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tim, The AU: With the whistle from the opening play of the iron bowl yet to be blown, what is your most memorable/favorite play by yourself at auburn? and your favorite team moment?

Carnell Williams: The Alabama opening drive was my favorite!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Justin (Birmingham, AL): Caddy, I hear you are pretty good at NCAA football on PS2. Do you guys really get into that and compete to see who's the best?

Carnell Williams: Oh yeah! I wouldn't say i'm the best on my team, but I can hold my own against anybody!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Wil (Houston, Tx): Man, show some love and answer one from tx...when you win the heisman this year, we all wanna hear WAR EAGLE!!

Carnell Williams: Thanks Wil! ... Of course, it's on my mind, it's something I would love to accomplish, but it's not something I feel pressure from or preoccupied with. I'm just going to go out there, do my best and see what happens from there!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drew (Marietta): Leave no doubt. BE the best back. Dominate every game like we know you can. My goals for Carnell!! SEC championship, Heisman, Top 3 NFL Draft Pick!!!

Carnell Williams: Thanks Drew ... that would be nice!!!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cindy (Alabaster, Alabama): We can't express how happy we are that you and Ronnie will stay with AU for the 2004 season - Just want to wish you the very best this year and your career in the NFL.

Carnell Williams: Thanks Cindy and thanks to everybody for having us back. It's an honor to play for Auburn. Here's to a great season and war eagle!!!

Moderator: Hey everybody, Carnell's got to run. Thanks for hanging out with us today!
  2. Seems like a classy guy.. a bit misguided (heh), but classy all the same
  3. Georgia stops him the best????? Come on... I'd like to know how he looked when he played UGA. I didn't watch that game. But, I know LSU made him our b*tch. I mean, for being called the best RB in the country, he sure did look less than mediocre against LSU. He does seem like a pretty good kid though, minus that amazing Auburn grammar -- "it done carried right into college"
  4. Against UGA 12 for 45 yards, and against you guys 20 for 61 yards.
  5. 3.03 average vs. LSU
    3.75 average vs. GA

Neither very good, but LSU contained him to a substantially lower average and the fact that he tried 20 times versus only 12 versus GA. Even later in the game when the outcome was no longer in doubt, they still tried to run with him in what was considered obvious passing downs to try and get back in the game, he still failed miserably.

In other words, LSU had most dominating effect on Yugo Williams.
