As a lifelong Beaver fan, this is bittersweet. I was just hoping to cover the spread, so to go into Tiger Stadium at night in the middle of thunder, lightning, and what looked like a hurricane....and to compete with the National Champs... wow! Remember, we lost for 28 seasons in a row, and I was at most those home games for all those years.

To let this one slip through our fingers hurts, but I am dam (pun intended) proud of our boys. I hope we gained some respect for our showing, and I feel our defense was perhaps the best I've ever seen it.

As far as the kicker, I hope he can look at the big picture from several points of view. One, it was his first game in the NCAA, and it was in Death Valley. That right there makes many decent players soil themselves. Second, the LSU PK missed two, and the water-logged grass had a huge effect on the play of the ball, making it almost impossible to kick. During the delay, the camera cut down to a field-level shot, and the water was not draining at all, in some places on the field, all you could see was water with the tips of the blades of grass barely sticking up. This affected the place kicking game of both teams immensely.

Tigers, thanks for the sportsmanship and hospitality. Though i couldn't make the trip, several friends called saying it was absolutely amazing. Tens of thousands BBQing and calling Beaver fans over to try their food, offer a beer. I can't tell you how much we appreciate that kind of hospitality, especially since we had to run for our lives from the maniacs down at Fresno State two years ago. They were throwing bottles at fans and players, and I feared for my safety. That's just wrong. What was mosr striking was the sportsmanship and class of the LSU players, helping Serna up after he missed his 3rd PAT. What a bunch of classy gentlemen! Great game, and here's to a great season. Good luck, and we'll do everything we can to beat USC for ya!

Great post Benny!!! I thought Anderson handled himself like a true team leader and the Beavers showed great heart.

Your team played there hearts out and deserved to win so you should be proud. I am glad eveyone had a good time and Beaver fans were treated with respect. However I feel that OSU fans were cheated by the performance of our team and robbed of the chance to see how football in the SEC is played. This is not the way the top teams in the SEC play and there is no excuse for the offensive performance of our offense. I hope the Beavers win the Pac 10 and have a great season and once again hats off to your team.

It's a good post and I recognize it from one of your boards. I am thinking that some in Oregon are taking the loss about as well as can be expected. Your post is exemplary. But there are some taking it pretty badly. Understandable, I guess. Above all else, I am proud of the way my hometown fans treat visitors such as your friends. I live out here on the west coast and one of the biggest reasons I miss home is for the reasons you cite. I just can't find that kind of hospitality out here. My people almost always do right by others and I am just glad that some of you got to experience that. Even your local papers have taken notice of the hospitality and of our culture and traditions. Thanks for stopping by and we hope to hear from you often. I hope you guys have a great season. I hope this game proves to be a positive to your team and not a negative. I hope the team adopts your view of it's overall meaning. :thumb:

I love Classy posts. You guys made us look overrated, and at least for tonight, we were. You guys brought a hell of a tough game. Rain didn't help much either. Best of luck to you and your beavers. :)

is an excellent, objective post from an opposing fan. Agree...and this game was yours to lose. I feel for your kicker. Mike Riley was trying to call a timeout in OT to go for 2 which I feel you probably would convert. we were lucky.

I posted another post about it, but I'll say it again. I gained a ton of respect for OSU tonight. Excellent players and you came to play. We were just lucky.

Oregon State is my favorite NCAA team in Oregon!

I've heard that the Oregon Ducks are fairly liberal, and that the conservatives are with the OSU Beavers.

That's a plus, in my book. Not only that, but the Beavers are a very good football team.

I wish that I'd have bet money on the game, because I never thought that LSU would win by more than 18 points.

I hope that LSU can improve this week in practice, because it was clear that OSU was better in some areas of play.

    Good game.
