3 wishes: humans decide nothing. computers care about 2 things. record and SOS. highest ranked undefeated team is one with toughest schedule. highest ranked one-loss team is team with toughest schedule, end of story. it matters not when you lose, just who you played. e.g. it doesnt matter if you lose in your conf championship, when the other idiot lost to cal. the conference championships are not chances to play out of the national championship, when other teams can lose and have it overlooked by the human polls. cal is wildly inferior to k state. any other opinions on this are stupid and should not be tolerated. any claims of a "dual" national championship should be met with scorn, as two champions is an oxymoron. there is one champion. the end. conclusion: HUMANS HAVE NO PLACE DECIDING. HUMANS ARE NOT OBJECTIVE.
Why is this truth not apparent to everybody? If the BCS has an objective way of selecting a champion, there is no need for a "poll" to enter the picture at all.
we are inexplicably tolerant of human polls in college football. think how much objection there would be in other sports if people voted on the rankings. i cant imagine why people think opinion has anything to do with team quality. this isnt iron chef, there are objective standards we can use. it isnt a matter of opinion or preference. it is insane. it is almost as if the controversy is intentional, to generate buzz. the only other reason would be widespread stupidity, which i guess cannot be ruled out.
