I like wolf's #1 and 2 and Red's #2. I would like to see polls not start until 1 month into the regular season. being ranked high in early polls gives unfair advantage to those teams.

And if we don't like the results of the system that we all agreed to before the start of the season, we can whine like little babies and stomp our feet in protest because the system isn't fair, or at least it didn't make us the champions that we think we are.

all good ideas minus the original post and 95tigers agreement with the first 2. Although 95's idea of no polls til at least a month or so into the season is long overdue but the public is so numbers crazy there's tons of money made from so many different polls. I guess they would still have all the rest....just keep the ESPN-Coaches and AP polls out of it til they have something to weight it against that has validity.

How can anyone agree with mandate winning a conference if the losing team is undefeated going into the game when all other teams have 2 or more losses? There is no logic there.

Big East definitely deserves a reprieve. How would you feel if UF, UA, UGA and UT jumped ship to make a super-conference leaving us holding the bag. At least we'd still be stronger than the Pac-10.

Strength of Schedule is a must. Weight it where beating top #1-#25 > than #30-#50>all the rest or something similar.

Margin of victory to a finite number is a must as well, say 21 points max.

having a 7 member commision as suggested sounds great. I'm sure Skip would somehow find a way to be on it.

Yea, i rethought the first 2 and I see your point about how the confrence championship thing would not work and I would modify my 2nd one to say they had x amount of years to get their confrence up too par. Though i don't care if it was their fault or not that teams left. If they can't entice top teams to go there after a certiant amount of time they don't deserve the automatic bid.

I won't back off the last one though. I don't think it should be an every year thing just an option to avoid a split title. w/e i thought about the not voting till later thing and considered putting it in seeing as the preseason polls provide an unfair and sometimes inaccurate advantage. Godd ideas and arguments though.

There are basically 2 problems with the poll in midseason issue, which I think everone agrees is a good idea. The first issue is that no-one has any control over the AP poll except for themselves and they would never agree to it because it would take some of the attention and power away from the writers, and of course they would say they don't want to break with tradition but that would be BS.

The other thing is that even if they didn't have the AP and Coaches polls till midseason they would just have others polls take their place and papers around the country would run them and the AP poll would fear they were losing their position as the pre-eminant poll(?) in the country. And many of the writers around the country would probably look a the results of those polls to help in establishing their votes IMO.

    1. Keep quality wins and expand them to include top 25 teams

    2. QW wins are assessed at the time they are won, not at the end of the season. In other words, if you beat #12 Auburn, but Auburn then decides to mail it in the rest of the season (sounds like 2003) then you still get credit for beating them as a 12th rank team in terms of QW points. Is it a team's fault that they beat a really good team who in turn lost their stud QB to injury and lost nearly the remainder of their games?

Under your third option the emergency clause would have put USC in the title game over OU. Why should an OU loss to a very good K State team penalize them more than USC is penalized for a loss to a mediocre California team just because it happened later in the season?

I think deleting the SOS is a big mistake.

That allows teams that schedule pussy schools to remain in the hunt.

Oh great and powerful Genie Wolf04 since you have granted me 3 wishes here they are:

Wish 1. I wish to throw out your rule about not instituting a playoff system.
Wish 2. I wish the NCAA would come to their senses and institute a playoff system that makes sense
