Well, as much as possible while trying to continue to develop some continuity between the starters. For instance, Flynn had Early (who had all but 20yards of Flynn's passing stats!?), Keiland & Murphy.

I wasn't able to make the game, but have heard a lot about it... Here's some of what I've heard. Maybe others could verify?

Ryan wasn't very accurate, his throws were off by a yard or so from the receiver several time, which resulted in a few drops by LaFell. Could be a concentration thing similar to Bowe? I don't know, because I had heard that he rarely ever drops a pass in practice.

Murphy looked really good, Alley's looking alright - still heavy.

OLine is still being dominated, although it is tough to guage how much of that is there fault. Our Dline is going to be the best in the nation, and it won't be close.

In all fairness, Cecil the Diesel was before your time. No big deal, he was just the best college running back since Bo in his short time here.

Absolutely right on that one CP. I doubt they will even need to blitz against about 9 of our opponents. I can't wait!

The rest of ya: Thanks for the updates on the game. Keep 'em coming, some of us are starved for unfiltered info.

i dont think QB will be a weak-spot... i really dont...

our defense is soooooooo good that it is impossible to succeed.

Look at the stats of QBs against our guys, and compare them to those of Flynn today. Flynn did real well.

Cecil was about the 2nd or 3rd season I remember, and yes, he was a 100% beast. No doubt, but I think Murphy can do some things Cecil couldn't specifically catching the ball.

But he isn't as powerful as the Diesel used to be, so it'll be interesting... especially when you consider that there are 2-3 other backs to share with.

I was at the game and IMO this was the reason for the less than stellar QB play. The D-liine on both sides could have started for the Colts and the QB's seemed pre-occupied with not getting touched. You could tell on a few plays that they were trying to dodge contact that otherwise would not have effected their play.

Steltz is going to be a beast this year. On that ED touchdown he went airborn and almost made an outstanding play to deflect the ball. If he gives that much effort in a scrimmage he's going to be fun to watch during the season. That was a perfect throw by MF. I still don't know how ED caught it.

I also liked when they ran that misdirection screen accross the middle to Holliday. The same one they ran to Bowe when they needed sure yards. I think the coaches are starting to trust him alot more despite his small size.

Alley was on a mission. Every time he got the ball he ran VERY hard.

I dont see how it was a bad idea to send emails to LSU fans and either get a free ticket with no line or pay $1 to print them online? I thought the tickets at the gate were only $5. What was so expensive besides the food, which is a given?

I am sure it was unorganized, but at least be happy that it was in the format of an actual game and not situational groupings. I am sure it will get better down the road if Miles keeps the same format in the future.

That's what I'd like to hear. Thoughts on the Mike, Sam, and Will spots as well as the entire secondary. Anyone? :hihi:

Biggest reason, IMO, for Flynn doing better (slightly) in the scrimmage was due to ED--like Cparso said. Early made some fantastic grabs on some botched passes from Flynn. Neither QB was entirely impressive but it's hard to judge against our defense. RP made a GREAT play in the second quarter (i THINK) by avoiding a sack and getting the ball to Holliday (again, I don't remember who exactly, there was soooo much stuff b/w football, track, softball and baseball going on.) Overall, I'm pretty excited about our running game. I'm a bit worried about our receivers. Lafell NEEDS to step-it-up. I guess to be fair RP could work on his accuracy, but man Doucet was FUN to watch. Defense was about as good as we all know it will be. Highsmith and Dorsey didn't play, but Jai Eugene was playing good coverage in the sec. along with steltz. I got a little football fix, but damn I just want August 30 to get here....NOW!

ryan had LaFell, Ricky Dixon and either Scott/Broussard, maybe both... I don't remember

Flynn had Murphy, Keiland, and Doucet.

Flynn was set up more to succeed, which is only right, b/c he will most likely start.
